IGT Brings Networked Wheel of Fortune Jackpots to Massachusetts
IGT announced on November 3, 2026 that it and MGM Springfield had launched what the companies called Massachusetts’ first wide-area progressive slots games. The casino has created a dedicated Wheel of Fortune Slots Zone with 20 IGT titles for the debut, placing the networked games together in one branded area.
Wide-area progressive, or WAP, games are part of a network of connected slots. A jackpot liquidity pool grows as more people play, making participation across the network central to the prize mechanism. At MGM Springfield, the games’ progressive jackpot reset values range from $200,000 to $1.125 million.

The installation combines new and established games across several IGT cabinets. Wheel of Fortune Big Money appears on the Wheel of Fortune Trio cabinet, while Wheel of Fortune Cash Link Reels Double Diamond and Wheel of Fortune Cash Link Reels Double Gold use the DiamondRS Wheel cabinet. The highlighted mix also includes Wheel of Fortune Triple Gold Gold Spin on the MegaTower cabinet and Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars Gold Spin Deluxe on the CrystalWheel Stepper cabinet.
The zone sits within a resort covering three city blocks in downtown Springfield. MGM Springfield’s broader facilities include more than 125,000 square feet of gaming space, giving the dedicated installation a defined place within a substantially larger casino operation.
Ariam Aponte, MGM Springfield’s vice president of casino operations, presented the launch as another first for the property. “Our recently opened Wheel of Fortune Zone differentiates MGM Springfield, features an exciting mix of slots experiences and offers jackpot opportunities that are new to players in Massachusetts,” Aponte said.
Franchise History and Licensing
IGT first launched Wheel of Fortune slots in 1996. The company reports that the games have since paid more than $3.6 billion in jackpots and created more than 1,200 millionaires across more than 300 variations. Those figures cover the franchise’s full history and establish the scale of the slots line behind the Massachusetts debut.
The launch also coincides with the slots brand’s 30th anniversary, a milestone addressed by IGT chief executive Hector Fernandez. “Launching the first wide-area progressive games in Massachusetts with MGM Springfield gives players a new way to experience Wheel of Fortune Slots as we mark its 30th anniversary,” Fernandez said.
IGT’s exclusive licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Television allows it to produce Wheel of Fortune slots games through 2034. The underlying television program, produced by Sony Pictures Television, is in its 44th syndicated season. That gives the Massachusetts launch a longer product context than the anniversary alone: MGM Springfield’s zone introduces the shared-pool format locally, while IGT is using a slots franchise it remains licensed to produce beyond the launch year.
