Halloween: The Game — 10 Best Tips for Playing a Civilian
So, you’ve found a car that can drive you out of the slasher horror town of Haddonfield, Illinois. But you’ve got no keys? No fuel? Apparently, the police van that just drove into town can help ferry the residents of Haddonfield to safety. Only to find out that it can only carry a maximum capacity of survivors. Back to searching the map for more exit plans, more hidden items, and more survivors. Anything that you might use as a weapon.
How do you make the horror of surviving Haddonfield a little easier on you? Exactly by following Halloween: The Game – best tips for playing a civilian that are outlined for you below.
10. Careful Which Civilian You Choose

Civilians may have a superior advantage over Michael Myers that may be easy to miss. You get a roster of different characters you can choose from, each one having unique perks and abilities. So, yes, it does, in fact, matter who you choose to play as a civilian.
Interestingly, the civilian characters are drawn from the larger franchise films. So, that may be one way to choose your favorite one. However, you’ll be better off assessing the stats more closely. Looking at things like the speed of a character, what their personality is, and how adaptable they are to changing scenarios.
For even better results, you can experiment with different characters and find the one that supplements your skills and quick thinking better than the rest.
9. Find a Bloody Weapon

To balance the scales, Michael Myers has an upper hand in strength. He’ll easily kill you if he catches you, so please don’t take him on, even if you want to. Your best chances of survival are to hide or run away, especially since Michael is slower than civilians.
Another way, though, you can protect yourself, particularly in situations where you have no other choice but to fight, you want to have a weapon you can use. These are found in the environment and vary from melee blunt weapons to ranged guns. Some may stun Michael, others may do quite a decent deal of damage to allow you to get away.
8. The Map Will Show You Where to Go
If you’re standing confused at your spawn location, not knowing where to go, by all means pull up the mini map that will show you where to go. It actually pinpoints some important spots, like where to find the residents, including the high-priority targets. You’ll see where POIs are, like the gas stations for fuel and more significant landmarks to help you find your bearings.
7. Don’t Be a Hero

Right, getting down to business, you’ve found the residents. What next? It’s easy to have them follow you around as you search for an exit, but it only makes you more visible to Michael. The best bet is to ask the special targets to hide so Michael can’t find them.
6. Lock the Doors
While asking the residents to hide, make sure to lock the doors. It’ll, at the very least, slow down Michael from getting to you. But remember, Michael can move through doors using the Shape Jump ability.
5. Turn on the Lights

So, the next thing you want to do is turn on the lights. This will ensure that Michael can’t use Shape Jump to pass through locked doors. Additionally, light will reduce Michael’s Bloodthirst level, which gives him more strength, speed, aggression, buffs, and additional perks.
4. Call the Cops

Some players recommend calling the cops as often as possible. The more calls you make, the more cops arrive at the scene. They will engage Michael and even arrest him when they overwhelm him. It can also be a strategic solution to your problems. Whenever cops patrol the streets of Haddonfield, they might create safe zones that are okay to pass through. But perhaps most importantly, they might be your escape plan, where you direct residents to escape in police vans.
You can call the cops yourself, but definitely recruit the residents to help you make the calls. They will take far less time and are more likely to be trusted by the police, depending on your character’s personality type.
3. Find the Items You Need

It’s probably annoying that even if you find a car you can use to drive as far as possible from Haddonfield or gates you can escape through, you need to find certain items that allow you to use these escape routes. For the car, you need keys and fuel. For the gate, you need keys, bolt cutters, perhaps, a melee weapon. But hey, the exit plans are multiple. Cellars are an option. You can steal a police car, too, though Michael has to kill a cop for them to drop their key.
2. Exit Plans Have a Maximum Limit/Capacity

Another way Halloween: The Game makes it a little tougher to simply get away from Michael is that the exit plans have a maximum limit of residents that can use them. Only five people can escape in the police van, for example, and so on. Mind you, a player using the exit plan counts as two people. So, quite a few considerations to make here. However, you can always make your work easier by splitting the tasks of finding items and sticking close enough to find one another.
1. If You Get Caught, You’ve Still Got Cards You Can Play

Lastly, and most importantly, is that it’s never too late to escape. Even when Michael has grabbed you, and you’re fighting for your life. That’s the important part. You can still fight for your life if you use the items you’ve collected to stun Michael. Knives are pretty good for breaking free of Michael’s clutch. You can use flares and glass. Or throw bricks at him. Baseball bats are pretty good, too. The idea is to break free from Michael’s clutch, not necessarily injure or defeat him, just so you can make a run for it.
