BioWare Won’t Be Showing Mass Effect 5 or Dragon Age 4 at EA Play Live

EA Play Live is right around the corner with plenty of titles in the pipeline ready to be unveiled. Only, BioWare won't be in attendance. And those updates you were hoping to see for Mass Effect 5 and Dragon Age 4? Well, you'll be sad to know that the developer won't be lifting the lid on either project at the show. At least not yet, anyway.

Looking to Twitter to shed the news to the public, BioWare announced that neither game will be explored at EA Play Live. “We're hard at work creating the next Dragon Age and Mass Effect games and have some exciting stuff coming to SWTOR this year,” BioWare posted. “While we won't be showing anything at EA Play Live, be sure to check out our SWTOR Livestream at 12PM PT today for info on what's to come.”

Of course, this news doesn't bode well with fans of either franchise, though knowing both games are under the hammer is some level of consolation. Admittedly, it's minor compared to some of the other works that are being delved into from behind the scenes — but it's a little something to take away. So that's a plus.

But what about today's SWTOR (Star Wars: The Old Republic) reveal? Well, to put it shortly, BioWare announced that, come the holiday season of 2021, the sixth expansion titled “Legacy of the Sith” will be hitting the platform. And on top of that, seeing as the game is honouring its tenth anniversary, BioWare will be stoking the fire with a round of celebrations through to 2022. But that's about as much as we know. You can take a gander at the trailer for the upcoming expansion below.

SWTOR 7.0 Legacy of the Sith Expansion Announced

It's not all doom and gloom over at EA Play Live. Not really, anyway.

While BioWare won't be making an appearance at EA Play Live this year, players can still expect a few hidden gems to pop up during the show. Of course, the biggest titles to keep on the radar will be Battlefield 2042, Madden NFL 22, and Lost in Random, all of which will be on display for the duration of the showcase. Other than that, you can expect to see a round of news on all things EA, as well as a general overview for 2021 and beyond.

EA Play Live takes place on July 22nd at 10 a.m. PT. You can follow the updates for the show on the official handle here. BioWare whet your appetite for Legacy of the Sith? You can sift through the details for the expansion here.
