Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles — Everything We Know

Have you been watching the Batman: Caped Crusader animated TV show on Amazon Prime Video? It has two seasons so far, and the second one launched on July 31, 2026, alongside the Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles detective game.

While the stories aren’t directly linked, the game is your chance to play detective in the show’s version of Gotham City. You might watch the show on Amazon Prime or via Amazon’s Fire TV stick, and then jump straight into the game at no additional cost using your phone as a controller.

The game is available exclusively via Amazon’s cloud gaming platform called Amazon Luna, which is currently available in select countries, including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and Luxembourg.

All of the house cleaning aside, let’s see the specific story and gameplay details you can expect in the Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles – Everything We Know article below.

What is Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles?

Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles is an upcoming detective adventure game launching exclusively on Amazon Luna. That means that you’ll need an Amazon Prime subscription plan to access the game.

The idea is to play detective alongside the Gotham Police Department, chasing the bad guys wreaking havoc in Gotham City. Some villains are iconic favorites from the Batman franchise. However, the episodic stories themselves are based on the Batman: Caped Crusader animated show.

Story

After Season One of Batman: Caped Crusader aired on Amazon Prime, the series recorded positive ratings that led to the launch of a second season, as well as Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles. While you can play the game solo, it can also be a great party game for up to four players. Your time will be split between solving crimes, chasing Gotham City’s villains, and getting wrapped up in detective minigames.

Batman will take a backseat to your adventures, letting you be one of the detectives at the Gotham City Police Department. Although as you know, working closely with Batman means you’re a part of his inner circle, as is Detective Renee Montoya. Before taking down iconic villains like Scarecrow, Dollmaker, and yes, the Joker, you’ll need to solve crimes, which involves collecting evidence, chasing leads, and preparing for the final stand-off fight.

The 11-episode adventure is lush with noir themes. It’s gripping and full of entangled webs of crimes across Gotham City involving some of its most dangerous criminals. And in between the cases, you’ll be fully occupied with lots of minigames that test your investigative, interrogative, and the power of deduction detective skills.

Fans of the show will be happy to know that the original actors from the animated TV show reprise their roles in the game. Hamish Linklater and Michelle C. Bonilla voice Batman and Detective Montoya, respectively. Meanwhile, Matthew Needam steps into the shoes of the Joker.

Gameplay

There are 11 episodes to get through solo or as a team, with each one having a self-contained mystery. All 11 episodes are original cases that you’ve never seen before. As for the DC villains, they are spread across the episodes, posing different threats to Gotham City. The minigames should be fun, too, testing different detective skills.

So, how does every episodic adventure look like? Well, you first get the briefing of the case from Batman or Montoya. Here, you’ll find out the suspects, and then proceed to play minigames that involve going to the scene of the crime, gathering clues, decoding hidden information, and making sense of the evidence.

For the suspects, you’ll need to interrogate them and extract evidence you can use to prosecute. And then the power of deduction comes in, piecing the puzzles together and establishing a timeline of events. And finally, wrapping up the case where Batman and the Gotham Police take down the villain. Pretty sweet, huh, for a ten-hour-or-so playthrough.

Development

Blazing Griffin developed Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles, while Warner Bros. Interactive and Amazon Game Studios teamed up on the publishing front. The game requires your TV screen, a smartphone as your controller, and an Amazon Prime subscription plan. That means that you can watch the show and then jump straight into the game if you like. It’s worth checking it out because Warner Bros. has put an officially licensed stamp of approval on it. And well, it can’t hurt when you already have Amazon Luna.

The difficulty is the same in solo and co-op play. So, it comes down to the type of experience you’re looking for. If you want to play the game at your own pace, you can try it solo. Teamwork needs communication via chat or being in the same room with every player having their own smartphone controller. And the tasks will be split naturally, with one player decoding a cypher while another analyzes a photo from the crime scene.

As for the art style, it’s similar to the TV series. You get a 1940s noir aesthetic that uses stylized characters and animations. The environments are interactive, with controls that allow you to drag and drop evidence pins onto a conspiracy board, rotate numeric codes to pick locks, or input the answers to riddles.

Trailer

The Batman: Caped Crusader Chronicles official announcement trailer actually seems interesting. I love the aesthetic that has nailed the animated noir theme of the TV series spectacularly well. It also has an aura of mystery and darkness hiding in the shadows. The visuals look clean, and the gameplay has the detective genre tropes set in Gotham. Of course, the disappointing reveal is that the game is only available via Amazon Luna, when very few gamers actually play games on it.
