Twitter User Suspended for 12 hours for Allegedly Sharing his Collection of Pokémon Game Boy Games, Which Was Termed as Encouraging “Self Harm”

Joel @CANTDIE a Twitter user shared a concern today after his Twitter account was allegedly suspended for posting his Pokemon GameBoy game collection.

The Nintendo games fan raised these concerns after receiving a notification that his account had been suspended for allegedly violating the app's rule and regulation of” promoting /encouranging suicide or self- harm.”

While speaking to Dexerto, Joel stated,

“I was posting about my new Nintendo 3DS when one of my followers mentioned how much his son would like the content.”

The user went further and stated that the ban came about after a fan commented that her son would love what he had posted, so he commented with a picture of his collection, which ultimately made his account suspended.

Joel @CANTDIE further aired his feelings towards the ban stating,

“My main concern is that the automation service is clearly very flawed. The fact that I was flagged for promoting self-harm or suicide when I posted an image of a children’s game is telling.”

Twitter has since lifted the 12 hour ban, and Joel's account is, however, active. @CANTDIE is however not satisfied with the lift. “I’m glad to have my account back, but I still worry about how easy it was to get suspended. I hope Twitter does more to improve its moderation process,” he said.

Violations and suspension of accounts has, however, brought a lot of concern among users as well as @CANTDIE.There should be another forum to ensure a background check before the suspension of accounts because it is clear that the automated systems are not always accurate. Hopefully, Twitter will devise other ways to help curb this issue from happening again.
