3.  Bovada

How to Place A Parlay

Next on our list is the Bovada sportsbook and casino, which emerged in 2011. For the first five years of operation, the platform held the Kahnawake Gambling Commission’s license, but in 2016, it decided to give up on it after the Commission went through a policy change that Bovada did not approve of. For the last six years, it has operated without a license, but that still did not affect its quality or performance.

Its sportsbook offers a variety of popular payment methods, and the ability to bet on all kinds of big sports franchises, such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAA football, NCAA basketball, and NHL, among others. Apart from traditional currencies, it also accepts Bitcoin, and it features mobile availability. And, if bettors ever experience an issue or need any sort of help, they can contact customer support at any time via email, phone call, or live chat.

4.  BetOnline

BetOnline: Sports Betting Made Easier, Faster & Safer

BetOnline is an online sportsbook that launched in 2004, and like our previous entries, it also offers a casino section with plenty of entertaining gaming titles. It is very user-friendly, starting with the fact that it offers a minimum deposit of $20, it features polite and capable customer support, and it is safe to use. It holds the Panama City license, and it features multiple secure payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover card, American Express, wire transfers, and even cryptocurrencies.

For those who make a minimum deposit of $55, the platform offers a generous welcome bonus, and those who use cryptocurrencies can also benefit from a number of promotions. In addition to regular, monotonous betting, there is also proposition betting that lets users bet on questions, such as which team will be the first to make the 3-point shot, and alike, just so make it more exciting.

5.  Xbet

Next down the list, we have Xbet, which is a platform known for a lot of things, from tight betting odds to excellent customer service and the ability to offer things for novices and professionals alike. Xbet offers a myriad of deposit options, fast payouts, multiple betting options, bonuses, and a lot more that makes it highly attractive to bettors all over Wisconsin.

The benefits of using this platform keep popping up, but in terms of flaws, it only has 3 eSports games, at least for the time being. But, there are plenty of regular sports, like MLB; NHL, WNBA, golf, soccer, tennis, MMA, boxing, NASCAR, F1, and many more options for new and experienced bettors

6.  BUSR

In the sixth spot, we have BUSR, which stands for Bet US Racing. This is easily the best racebook for the US, and one of the leading sportsbooks, available across the country, with the only exceptions being New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. Luckily, Wisconsin is not on the list.

There are numerous betting options on the platform, apart from horse races, such as MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MMA, NCAA, betting on live baseball, and more. The platform offers multiple bonuses, including a sign-up bonus, casino bonus, cash bonus, and referral bonus. Nearing the end of the list, we have MyBookie, which is among the most trusted platforms for online gambling. You can bet on a variety of major international sports like basketball, football, soccer, and alike, as well as cricket, rugby, and even politics and entertainment.

MyBookie features multiple bonuses, such as a 50% sign-up bonus, a 10% cash bonus, and a 150% Casino bonus. The minimum deposit for Visa and Mastercard is somewhat elevated, sitting at $45, but if you use cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum Litecoin, or XRP, the minimum is only $20. The last on the list is SportsBetting.ag, which is actually a platform operated by BetOnline Group. The platform does not offer a great design, but don’t be deceived by that — it has been around for nearly two decades for a reason. It did experience financial issues in 2012, and BetOnline used this opportunity to take over. Ever since, the platform has been running smoothly, licensed by the Panama Gambling Control Board, and servicing US bettors with no issues.

It features multiple great betting opportunities, and a variety of payment methods, including crypto and fiat options alike, and it even has a casino section. In terms of available sports, there are all the popular ones, such as soccer, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and even things like snooker, darts, and handball. A welcome bonus is also included, and so are numerous promotions for crypto users, and even a loyalty and VIP program.

Gambling Landscape

In most states in the US, there is a presence of Native American tribes, and usually, these tribes are holders of the rights that grant them the ability to legally run their own casinos. Wisconsin is no different, although it should be noted that the local casinos are all tribal establishments, with no commercial gambling sites anywhere in the state.

There are 11 tribes in total, and they own 27 gaming locations throughout Wisconsin. However, only one of them offers sports betting, and while the others are interested in adding it, they have yet to do so. Other than casino gambling and sports betting in this single location, Wisconsin also has a legal state lottery, so there are some options for would-be gamblers in this state.

Also, it is worth noting that, unlike most other states — Wisconsin has not seen any attempts to legalize sports betting on a state level. At this time, it is only allowed in one, and soon potentially more, tribal casino location.

Even so, there are those who believe that it is time to start conversations that would ultimately lead to the legalization of sports betting, such as Rep. Tyler Vorpagel, who insists that people are still doing it, but if the state legalizes it — they would be able to do it in a safe and responsible way.

Despite his efforts and views, there were no attempts to legalize sports betting as of today.

One current option for residents of Wisconsin are offshore sports betting sites, we feature the top ones below.

When will online sports betting arrive in Wisconsin?

At this point in time, it is unclear when online sports betting might make an appearance in Wisconsin, or even if it will happen at all. So far, there have been no bills that would attempt to legalize it, and without any bills — there is no chance of online sports betting ever becoming included in the law.

It is possible that there will be greater interest in the idea in years to come, and depending on how great the interest ends up being — the law might emerge very soon after that. However, that still remains to be seen.

In the meantime, there is one option for those who wish to bet on sports online, and that is to use off-shore sportsbooks. While many of them provide services to US bettors, it should be noted that they are not licensed to do so, and so their services are technically illegal. But, since they are not based in the US, the country cannot order them to shut down as it would if anyone launched a local illegal sportsbook.

It is likely also not legal to access and use such services, although people still do it, and based on Rep. Vorpagel’s words — the authorities are well aware of it. However, they do not seem to be too keen on ending it, as there have been no arrests or other forms of punishments for sports bettors. Running a sportsbook in Wisconsin is a major crime, but joining and using one is not something that the authorities are too bothered by. If anything, they simply wish to see it legalized in order for their citizens to bet on sports in a safe environment and of course, for the state to benefit from taxation.

What are legal betting options in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin is not extremely rich in betting options, but there is one place where they can bet on sports today, and more might arrive in the near future. For the time being, the only place where you can place legal sports wagers is the main Oneida Nation casino in Green Bay. But, other tribal casinos are interested in bringing sports betting to their own establishments, so it could come in the near future.

The most popular sports in Wisconsin

Lastly, let’s talk about the most popular sports to bet on in Wisconsin. Like many other states, this is a football-loving state that has only one publicly-owned major league sports team in the US — Green Bay Packers. The team is owned by over 350,000 fans instead of a single owner or a handful of partners, as it usually is.

Other than that, there is an NBA team, Milwaukee Bucks, MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s football team, the Badgers.

Wisconsin has legal horse racing, which takes place at multiple spots in the state, usually at county fairs, as there are no official tracks that are permanently open to hold the events. Betting on races is legal as well, and you can do it at some of the tribal casinos that also work as racebooks.

Finally, Daily Fantasy Sports have not been legalized in the state, but they were also not banned, which puts it in the legal gray area. That has been enough for the US’ largest DFS providers to start accepting Wisconsin citizens’ wagers, including DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo.

Lloyd is passionate about online gambling, he lives and breathes blackjack and other table games, and he enjoys sports betting.
