Sengoku Dynasty

Travel back in time to feudal Japan in an upcoming story-driven, co-op survival adventure game called Sengoku Dynasty. The game is part of the Dynasty series, with the same publisher as the recently released Medieval Dynasty game. However, the developer is different, with Sengoku Dynasty currently in development by Superkami Games.

You’re free to wishlist it on Steam as early as now. However, before you do so, we’ve compiled all we know about the game, including details on the story, gameplay, release date, and more. So, read on to learn about Sengoku Dynasty: Everything We Know (for now).

What is Sengoku Dynasty?

Sengoku Dynasty

Sengoku Dynasty is an upcoming game. It features multiple genres, including open-world RPG, city-building, life simulation, and survival elements. The gameplay involves building a city set within feudal Japan. Players coordinate the innings and outings of the city’s inhabitants. Essentially, ruling over a Dynasty after their own heart. The game plans to release sometime in 2023, with the option to play solo or with a friend, as well as in first or third-person view.

Story

Sengoku Dynasty will have a story and an open-world mode. The story mode will feature a compelling story set in feudal Japan. We don’t have the exact details of the storyline. However, we do know that it’ll steer away from the war and destruction theme popular with the feudal Japan setting. And instead, focus on community and rebuilding.

Gameplay

Players will build a new village from scratch. They’ll focus on cultivating prosperity by nurturing their community and managing daily life. Some activities involve farming, hunting, gathering resources, and crafting useful items like weapons, food, or medicine. Amidst famine, they’ll need to survive with limited resources. From time to time, enemies will threaten the village. So, players must master the courage to protect the village and lead their people to freedom. Both melee and ranged weapons will come in handy, whether spears, bows, or katanas, among many more.

In the open-world mode, players will explore various settings that encompass the beauty of Japan. Environments will vary from snowy mountains to lush green forests, hot springs, and rugged coastlines bordering Sengoku’s beautiful ocean-side valleys. There’ll no doubt be lots of historic stories and landmarks to discover. So, if you’re intrigued by medieval Japan, the Sengoku Dynasty could potentially offer great insight into that period of Japan’s most turbulent times.

Players will have the freedom to choose between varied roles. Some will include a leader, warrior, monk, or craftsman. You can also choose to be an explorer, traversing the land and embarking on an epic journey. You can do so in your free time once you’ve built a flourishing village and expanded settlements throughout the valley. The village could prosper into a dynasty, soaring higher without needing constant attention.

There are several genres Sengoku Dynasty adopts: open-world RPGs, life simulations, city-building, and survival elements. You can play solo or bring a friend or two on your journey. You can also choose between first or third-person perspectives, whichever makes you happy. Ready to establish your legacy? Go ahead and wish list Sengoku Dynasty on Steam now.

Development

Sengoku Dynasty has the same publisher as Medieval Dynasty, called Toplitz Productions. This has led a few folks to speculate that Sengoku Dynasty is like an add-on DLC for the high-performing survival RPG. However, the developer of the two games is different, with Superkami Games working on Sengoku Dynasty

In December 2021, the first announcement confirming the development of the Sengoku Dynasty hit the airwaves. Alongside the announcement was a reveal teaser trailer. A new cinematic trailer followed in March 2022. And thereafter, a gameplay trailer was released in June 2023.

Still, in June 2023, Toplitz and Superkami announced that gamers could access the playtest version of the game on Steam from June 22, 2023, to June 29, 2023. It seems, though, that early access was extended for about a year, with the possibility of a timeline change depending on feedback and suggestions.

Since Sengoku Dynasty will use Unreal Engine 5, we can expect a high level of graphical, open-world realism. For now, you’re free to wishlist Sengoku Dynasty on Steam as early as now. However, the actual game is planned to release sometime in the summer of 2023.

Trailer

Sengoku Dynasty Gameplay Trailer

There are three trailers currently available. The first teaser trailer was released in December 2021. It doesn’t reveal much, save for the war and famine that struck feudal Japan, leaving ordinary people struggling to survive. Fortunately, news of a peasant village gradually thriving under your care spread far and wide. And many go there to seek refuge.

The second cinematic trailer, released in March 2022, shows us glimpses of the thriving village. It looks great, with rice fields, water mills, and people working together to rebuild the town. It ends with a new threat rising that could ruin everything. Can you stop it from destroying what you’ve built?

Recently, we received the gameplay trailer for June 2023. It looks even more vibrant, with lush greenery easily jumping off the screen. A Japanese folk soundtrack plays in the background as the words “Survive in feudal Japan” display across the screen. You can see bits of gathering resources, hunting, and crafting useful items. Additionally, you can see the building scenes that gradually thrive into multiple settlements. Feel free to check out the trailer here.
