Night Club Simulator Review (PC)

Two drunken beef cakes; one violently ill influencer; four dismantled contraceptive machines; and five hundred bucks of spilled liquor. Suffice it to say, nightlife is an absolute pain in the backside, and I can’t for the life of me decide whether or not I loathe it, or I genuinely enjoy relishing in all the drama. Whatever it is, I still find myself back most nights, often doing the same thing for minuscule rewards—an extra bar stool here, a stripper pole there, and so on and so forth. It’s a career that I share a love-hate relationship with—a job that, despite it being a cesspit for the unruly and the morally bankrupt, frequently reminds me that I could be in a much worse position. Heck, it’s either this or Supermarket SimulatorThough to be honest, I think I’d prefer that particular clientele than the guests of Night Life Simulator.

I’m not entirely sure if building a successful nightclub is a viable solution for breaking even with a debt collector, given that things in general are more likely to go wrong than right. For example, if I develop an organic stream of cash, it’s highly likely that, before I actively invest it into another business avenue, there’ll be something else preventing me from doing so. For in this industry, camaraderie isn’t commonplace; it’s a dark and often dainty underworld where violence frequents the bar stools, technical issues snowball into ludicrously expensive problems, and progression in the field is only accessible through somewhat perverse solutions. It isn’t a glamorous place to call home, nor is it somewhere that I’d happily hang my coat. But it pays the bills…sometimes.

Night Club Simulator is exactly what it describes itself as on the tin: a cliche-addled simulation game where you, the proud new owner of a dilapidated bunker, transform the rubble and ruin of a building into an enigmatic hub for the night owls and other fledgling twilight patrons who foster the clubbing scene. Similar to other rags-to-riches simulation titles, the game sees you, the puppeteer of a seemingly barebones nightclub, shoveling through a series of generic cleanup tasks, and then funneling revenue into expanding the business to evolve the clientele and unlock vast new possibilities. With that, you have jobs on your dossier that range from serving cocktails to dealing with disorderly behavior, implementing items of interest to managing the nightly operations. Again, like a traditional business simulation game — but with more strobe lights and bar fights.

With thanks to its inclusion of a co-op mode, Night Club Simulator has a significant advantage over a lot of its business-minded ilk. While not exactly laced with any rich or unique story beats or any form of major character development, the game itself is, to my surprise, perfectly capable of stirring the mood with a sizable selection of AI-generated encounters and randomized gameplay events, making each night an unpredictable experience that can keep you second guessing your guests’ patterns and their expectations whilst simultaneously giving you the tools to expand on the spot. And it’s a lot of fun, too, even though it does feel somewhat chaotic on the rarest of occasions.

While I can confidently say that, courtesy of Unreal Engine 5, Night Club Simulator does indeed boast some of the “best graphics in the co-op simulation genre” to date, I can’t bring myself to say that it’s the well-oiled machine that it potentially could be. Like a vacuum with a knack for sucking the life out of all human emotion, it does foster some pretty janky NPC moments, with some of them being as hilariously bad as they are weirdly entertaining for all the wrong reasons. That being said, Night Club Simulator does feature some surprisingly realistic visuals, which is a breath of fresh air, more so given that it falls beneath an umbrella that’s primarily known for producing half-baked worlds. I suppose we have the AI to thank for that.

With all of the above put in the open, I can say that, as far as business simulation games go, Night Club Simulator is arguably one of the better titles I’ve had the luxury of playing. With thanks to its vast collection of unorthodox AI-driven encounters, thematic objects, and not to mention a great amount of on-the-ball twilight shenanigans, it does, in all fairness, deliver exactly what it set out to accomplish: to create an immersive club-building sim that can accommodate all of the familiar trappings and add its own lashings of visual complexity to a quenchable cocktail. Is it the best business simulation game on the market? That’s open for discussion, though, to give credit where it’s due, it’s definitely one of the more palatable games of its kind.

Verdict

Patrons engaging in bar fight

Night Club Simulator is a twisted, often perverse rags-to-riches type of sandbox fodder that, although not entirely glamorous or teeming with wholesome vibes, is oddly intoxicating to slam. It has a fair few issues with its AI, I’ll admit, and the brief encounters that you do share with your guests can be somewhat janky and awkward. Yet the actual process of building, maintaining, and expanding the nightclub experience is surprisingly satisfying and rewarding here, more so thanks to its inclusion of a generously sized catalog of upgradable features, recipes, and business milestones.

Like all techno-obsessed worlds, a headache or two is to be expected after so long in such a position, usually beside the speakers or head-locked in a room full of beaming lights. Here, the headaches bleed through generic problems—bar fights, troubling patrons, and frequent complaints of poor customer satisfaction, for example. But even with all of that nonsense, Night Club Simulator still finds various ways to keep you plugging in your decks to do it all over again for a chance to expand your horizons. And that’s something that we can’t help but love about these sorts of games: the breadcrumbs that fool you into believing that, if you follow the trail long enough, incredible things will come to pass. Oddly, it captures that incentive well here — and that’s great.

If you’re looking to invest your time into something that hosts a little more energy and a beating heart that has thrice the BPM as your usual cash-and-carry sim, then you sought to consider checking out Night Club Simulator. It’ll definitely leave you feeling a little intoxicated, naturally, but I can’t say that it will help you evade the morning hangover, sadly.

Worth the Hangover

In spite of all its flaws, Night Club Simulator still manages to boast one of the most authentic club-building simulation experiences on the market. It’s ridiculously fun, if not frequently tedious to juggle. But then, that’s to be expected of a game that’s literally about swatting drunkards with a cocktail shaker, I guess.
