Hungry Meem: Everything We Know

Looking for a cute and adorable game to ease your worries this year? Well, look no further than Hungry Meem a simulation game coming soon on Switch and PC. The trailer already has gamers in awe of its quirky personality and charming tunes. This game will doubtlessly have you kicking your feet back and enjoying a stress-free chill afternoon with a cup of hot tea.

We’ve only just received the first trailer for the upcoming game. Yet the developer has already pulled the curtain back on quite a number of interesting details to look forward to. Read on to learn everything we know about Hungry Meem so far.

What is Hungry Meem?

Hungry Meem

Hungry Meem is an upcoming brand-new colony simulation game. Its Steam page is already out now, revealing concrete details about what we can expect from the game. It’ll, at the center of its gameplay, feature cute little creatures called “Meems.” Their biggest personality is that they’re often hungry, hence the title of the game.

Meems live under the World Tree, and while their lives have been easy peasy for a while, they are now on the brink of extinction. Steam’s description doesn’t delve deeper into the danger the Meems are in. However, they do segue into your main task, which will be to follow the Meems’ journey under the World Tree and make their lives happier. You’ll do so by building new and fun settlements for them, alongside more colony-simulation activities.

Story

According to Steam, the story of Hungry Meem goes on to say that you stumble upon a picture book about Meems, who are always hungry creatures and reside under a World Tree. However, the picture book’s story ends in a bad way that Steam doesn’t go further into. Instead, you’re granted the power of manipulating the picture book’s story so you can help the Meems discover a better ending. To do so, you’ll follow their lives, helping them transform their journey into an ultimately happy ending.

Gameplay

Hungry Meem is a brand-new single-player colony simulation game. Among its key gameplay features are:

  • Helping the Meems – You meet the Meems, hungry but charming creatures who reside under a World Tree. They survived on a Miraculous Pot, where they cooked any type of delicious meal. When the pot is destroyed, though, they stand on the brink of extinction and rely on you to help them rebuild a new way of life.
  • Create your favorite Meem – Meems not only love to eat but also sleep and play. So, you’ll help them rebuild settlements that meet their desires. You’ll introduce them to different activities, which will teach them new skills and change their appearance. This way, you can create your own Meems by combining two creatures to create your favorite one.
  • Tend to the World Tree – By feeding the Meems their favorite meals; they will be happy and influence the World Tree to bloom further, thus creating new areas you can explore.
  • Make the Meems happy – Your ultimate goal is to give the Meems a happy ending to their story, whether it’s rebuilding their home or hosting them a feast of delicious treats. However, the settlements go beyond homes to include different facilities like the Love Nest and the Meem House. You’ll also need farming and resource facilities as well as cosmetic ones. Using the supplies you gather on your exploration, you’ll build a new life for the Meems and ensure they live happily ever after.

Development

Hungry Meem

Hungry Meem is the child product of the developer and publisher, Drecom Co., Ltd. This is a Japanese video game development and publishing company based in Osaki, Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan. It was founded in 2001 and has put out several titles: Chocotto Farm, Evil Prince and the Puppet, Project BEAT, and Tokyo Stories, to name a few.

In the trailer, the Meems don’t seem to speak, only making gibberish and cute noises. However, the game’s Steam page reassures you that it’ll include English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean languages on both the UI and subtitles.

Trailer

Check out the first trailer for Hungry Meem on YouTube. It goes further into breaking down the story and gameplay you can look forward to in the final game. Kicking off with a group of Meems cooking a delicious meal, the most charming tune cues in different Meems’ daily routines. You see them wake up and head to their different assignments. They work together to build their settlement, gather resources, and craft.

But there’s time for pleasure, too, as one of the Meems enjoys a steam bath while another bounces happily on a trampoline. Meanwhile, another section showcases a group of Meems cooking a meal, with some stirring the pot and others keeping the fire burning. It’s clear a happy life under the World Tree is going to take teamwork and a range of tasks to check off your list.
