Forza Horizon 6 Confirms January 2027 PS5 Release and First Expansion
Playground Games announced on October 8, 2026, that Forza Horizon 6 will release on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, for the Standard and Deluxe Editions, with Premium Edition early access beginning five days earlier on January 21. Pre-orders for the PS5 version opened on the PlayStation Store alongside the announcement.
The studio also confirmed that the first Premium Expansion for Forza Horizon 6 is coming to all platforms on January 21, 2027. The expansion is included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle at no additional cost, and will also be available to purchase separately. A free content update for all players will arrive alongside the PS5 launch and the expansion.
PS5 Version Developed by Panic Button
Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 was developed by Panic Button in close collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Panic Button also developed the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5. The game will also be available on disc for PS5 at supporting retailers.
The pre-order trailer released with the announcement was captured on a base PlayStation 5 console in the 4K 30FPS Quality mode. A 60FPS Performance mode will also be available.
Editions and Pre-Order Bonus
Three editions of Forza Horizon 6 are available for PS5 pre-order. The Standard Edition includes the full game, while the Deluxe Edition adds the Welcome Pack and the Car Pass. Both editions come to PS5 on January 26, 2027, and are out on Xbox and Steam.
The Premium Edition bundles the full game with VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, the Car Pass, the Time Attack Car Pack, the Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1 and Expansion 2, the latter available at a later date. Premium Edition owners on PS5 can play five days early starting January 21, 2027. The Premium Edition is out on Xbox and Steam.
Players who own the Standard or Deluxe Edition can buy the Premium Upgrade, which includes VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, the Car Pass, the Time Attack Car Pack, the Italian Passion Car Pack and both expansions. The upgrade requires the game, sold separately, and serves as a pathway for Standard or Deluxe owners to move up to the Premium Edition.
Every PS5 pre-order of any edition includes a pre-tuned Ferrari J50, which is added to the player’s garage once they start playing and complete the prologue.
Cross-Platform Play and Community Content
Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions of the game. All user-generated content is also cross-platform, so PS5 players can access community-created content from day one, including EventLab races, Prefabs, Garages and Estates, and Liveries and Tuning Setups. Playground said that by welcoming an entirely new community to the game, all players will benefit from more user-generated content being created and shared regardless of platform.
Forza Horizon 6, set in Japan, launched on May 19, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, where it is available through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Playground had previously said in a September 7 update post that the game would be “releasing on PS5 later this year,” directing players to add it to their PlayStation Store wishlist. That update introduced Drift Attack as a permanent feature.
Playground described the period since launch as six months of updates, including the Drift Attack feature. According to the studio, Forza Horizon 6 features more than 550 cars, including vehicles added post-release.
Ahead of the PS5 release, Playground pointed players to a series of deep-dive blogs covering the game’s new features in Japan, campaign progression, car culture and customization, garages and EventLab, and multiplayer. The studio said it will share more details about the free content update closer to release. It also directed players to the full in-game map of Japan and the artists and songs featured on the game’s radio.
