Forza Horizon 6 Repeats PS5 Release Plan for Later This Year

Playground Games has repeated that Forza Horizon 6 will release on PlayStation 5 later this year, in a September 7, 2026 post on the game’s official site announcing the British Automotive update, the game’s latest series update for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The statement appears at the close of the studio’s update announcement, which tells players planning their trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5 to stay tuned. “Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability,” the post reads.

No specific PS5 date was given. The wording matches what the studio has used since the game’s release date was first announced.

Forza Horizon 6 launched on May 19, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Xbox app and Steam, with Premium Edition players receiving early access from May 15. The game is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass memberships and playable through Xbox Cloud Gaming, according to the developer’s launch-day post. That post carried the same guidance for PS5 players: the version would release later this year, with a PlayStation Store wishlist page live for availability notifications.

The May 19 date was first confirmed on January 22, 2026 during the Xbox Developer_Direct broadcast, alongside the first gameplay showing of the game’s Japan setting and cover cars. That announcement also stated the game was coming to PS5 later in the year and that wishlisting was open on the PlayStation Store, the studio said in its release-date post.

British Automotive Update

The British Automotive update became available for download on September 7, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. UTC on Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox app on PC and Steam, ahead of the British Automotive Festival Playlist starting September 10 at 2:30 p.m. UTC.

Its centerpiece is Drift Attack, a permanent new feature at the Shimanoyama Circuit, which has been converted into a dedicated drift circuit. Players start a run by driving through a gantry directly from the open world, with no loading, and score drift points within a single lap. There is no limit on the number of laps a player can run. Clipping Zones positioned around the circuit boost points when a drift is performed inside their boundaries.

Drift Attack supports in-world and Convoy leaderboards and is integrated into the Horizon Festival Campaign, unlocked by obtaining the Yellow Wristband. Completing it in the Collection Journal awards a Drift Attack Racesuit and Helmet and the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition; a stock version of that car has been permanently added to the Autoshow.

The update’s Festival Playlist runs from September 10 through October 8 and features ten Series Reward cars. Three are new to the Horizon series: the 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed, the 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior and the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR. Two cars return from previous games, the 2015 Jaguar XKR-S GT and the 2002 Lotus Esprit V8, alongside two Wheelspin-exclusive cars, the 2019 Aston Martin Valhalla Concept Car and the 2016 Bentley Bentayga.

Car Pass and Fixes

Players holding the Forza Horizon 6 Car Pass receive four more new-to-Horizon cars across the four weeks of the series: the 2025 McLaren W1 from September 10, the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 from September 17, the 1998 Renault Sport Spider from September 24 and the 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe ‘Luftauto 002’ from October 1. The Car Pass, which delivers 30 new cars to a player’s garage week by week, is included with the Deluxe and Premium Editions and the Premium Upgrade, and is sold separately for Standard Edition and Game Pass players.

A British Automotive Takeover runs at the Aftermarket dealership near the Horizon Stadium in the Shimanoyama region, offering deals on British cars. Two cars usually exclusive to Wheelspins, the 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera and the 1961 Jaguar E-type, are also featured there, and players can test drive the 20 PTS seasonal reward car each week.

New clothing in the series includes the Retro Racesuit, unlocked in the first week’s Photo Challenge, and the Classic Jacket, obtainable in the second week’s Seasonal Hide & Seek. A Drift Tire Mascot Collectible can be found in the Shimanoyama region during the second week, and a Lionheart Player Badge is obtainable by playing at any point during the series.

Fixes in the update address an issue where cars would sometimes have misplaced wheels, and an issue where other players’ character models were not appearing in their cars at lower graphical settings on PC. The update adds an option to set audio language separately from subtitle language, and makes a change intended to improve car rendering quality for players using the High preset on PC.

October Update

The October series update is themed Horizon Meets, the studio said, featuring a temporary 7-Eleven Konbini Evolving World, a permanent EventLab Content Pack, new-to-Horizon cars and new profile Badges.
