Fortnite is a game that constantly evolves with each chapter and season. Every turn of the page introduces players to new weapons, items, and map locations. While this keeps the experience constantly refreshing and enjoyable, it can also feel like you're stepping into a brand new game if you've been away from Fortnite's battle royale scene for a while. That's why we're sharing the best beginner tips for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, right here in this guide.

Because if you're new to Chapter 3 Season 4 of Fortnite, you'll undoubtedly have a lot of questions about how certain items work. With that, you'll have to find your groove before you can start winning again. The best way to do so is to utilize these Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 beginner tips.

5. Chrome Splash

Fortnite week 4 Quest Guide

Starting with the most perplexing of all, the new chrome substance. You've most likely noticed players, buildings, and even weapons covered in chrome, as it is the highlight feature of Season 4. All of this is made possible through Chrome Splash a new throwable item to Chapter 3 Season 4. You can find Chrome Splash as floor loot or can retrieve it by breaking items that are already chromed, such as the ones you'll find in Herald's Sanctum. One of the best beginner tips we can give to new Fortnite players is to always pick up and use Chrome Splash if you come across it.

Why? Well, because Chrome Splash has more than one useful feature. For example, you can throw Chrome Splash at any wall, regardless of material, to phase through it. Furthermore, you can Chrome Splash yourself to gain increased movement in Chrome Blob Form, as well as immunity to fall damage and enemy bullets for the duration you are chromed. As a result, Chrome Splash comes in handy for just about any situation you find yourself caught up in. It can quickly change the momentum of a fight, or help you fall back when you're losing one.

4. Loadout Setup

Because Chrome Splash will almost certainly be in your loadout, it's a good idea to go over what the remaining four slots should consist of. Always keep some mini-shield potions or large shield pots on hand to replenish your health after a fight. This is a necessity to withstand those nefarious third parties. The remaining three slots should most likely be outfitted with a variety of guns capable of preparing you for ranged or close-quarters combat. But, as you might expect, the roster of guns in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 is almost entirely different from what you're used to.

If you want to know which guns are the best in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4, we have a list of the best ones this season for you right here. All of these weapons are popular among players, and any of the three, with a variety of assault rifles, submachine guns/shotguns, and snipers, is recommended to round out your loadout. The best of them all is the EvoChrome Burst Rifle, which is a triple-shot rifle that can tear through enemy shields and health.

To finish off your loadout, organize it so that switching between your weapons and items is as easy as possible for you. This is one of those Fortnite Beginner tips that can be applied to any season. You don't want to get caught up in a fight because you're tripping over changing weapons or items.

3. Battle Bus Landing and Hot Drops

Fortnite Beginner tips

The key to a successful start in any battle royale heavily relies on where you drop. And the map for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 has changed significantly. So, if you're just getting your bearings, you should avoid hot drops. These are locations that are directly in line with the Battle Bus path, giving players the quickest route to drop, land, and begin gearing up. Obviously, many players land at these locations, making them some of the most chaotic drops to begin a match. Tainted Towers and Herald's Sanctum are two places you should probably avoid for hot drops.

Instead, if you want to play it safe and land at one of the locations that are near the outskirts of the map. Such as Fort Jonesy, Shiny Sound, Chonkers Speedway, Greasy Grove, or around Loot Lake. Most likely other players will be dropping at these locations as well. They will, however, be much less crowded than a hot drop, giving you more time to prepare before being pushed by other players. This is another one of those Fortnite beginner tips, you'll want to consider every time you step into a match, regardless of chapter or season.

2. Talk to NPCs

Fortnite Beginner tips

The majority of players completely disregard approaching NPCs. That's because they don't believe they're worth their time, but it's quite the contrary. NPCs will usually give you useful items just for talking to them. They'll also sell you weapons and healing items for Gold Bars. So you can buy better weapons or items, such as Chrome Splash, Firefly Jars, or Launch Pads, which you never know when they may come in handy. Sometimes, they will even reveal the location of the next storm circle.

Tip – you get Gold Bars from chests, bounties, killing players, and destroying certain objects. Your Gold Bars also carry over between matches.

1. Fighting Strategy

Fortnite Beginner tips

Regardless of how many Fortnite beginner tips we give you, at the end of the day, it all comes down to how you fight. Many players these days, of any battle royale, heavily emphasize quickly pushing opponents and not allowing them time to strategize or heal. This should be the case for you as well, especially if you can give the initial damage in a fight. If you are the first to deal damage, you will almost always want to push before your opponent can heal or fall back for cover.

On the other hand, if you're the first to take damage, try to get your mini-shield potions off as soon as possible. Even getting one off can be the difference in who comes out on top. Along with that, you must be mindful of the fights you engage in. For example, pushing a player who has the high ground is almost a guaranteed losing fight for you. Take Anakin Skywalker for example, “It's over, Anakin, I have the high ground.”

With that, be considerate when you decide to third-party fights. As another player may be doing the same, which can quickly derail your battle plans. There's nothing wrong with picking and choosing your battles. As you don't have to throw down with every player you encounter.
