Expeditions: A MudRunner Game — 5 Best Tips for Beginners

Thanks to gaming, you never have to get your hands dirty—or your wheels, for that matter. Expeditions: A Mud Runner Game is perfect for fans of SnowRunner and MudRunner. It can even serve as the ideal entry point into the world of scouting on wheels. If you’re nervous about getting stranded on your first mission, don’t worry. Here are Expeditions: A MudRunner Game—the best tips for beginners for a quicker head start over the rest.

5. Plan Ahead

Expeditions: A MudRunner Game

Before heading out on an expedition, you need to carefully assess what items and tools you’ll need. You’ll start with over 30,000 in-game currencies. You’ll use the money for upgrades and hiring specialists. Be sure to spend the money on essentials only. You want to equip jacks and anchors, for instance, in anticipation of trouble ahead. Also, the map should be studied to locate points of interest. You want to deploy your vehicle near your quest marker, for instance.

An easy-to-forget tip is to study the expedition brief. It contains a summary of your mission and valuable tips on what to expect. These will help you decide what type of vehicle and tools you should choose. It’ll also help anticipate the kind of terrain, distance, and difficulty the expedition holds. It can then influence how much fuel you might need or what vehicle features, like off-road tyres, to equip.

Another planning tip is to toggle from night to day. You can do so freely, so why not? It’s significantly more challenging to see during the night. Although you can turn on your headlights and cross your fingers, hoping for the best.

4. Take Your Foot off the Gas

There’s never any hurry in Mudrunner games. You want to take your precious time to explore and scout before moving on to the next expedition. Remember, this isn’t a racing game. Moreover, as the name suggests, the roads here aren’t the most favorable to speed. Mud tends to slow you down. Wet grass can cause you to sway uncontrollably. You can even get stuck and damage your vehicle in the process of speeding.

Slowing down helps you avoid hazards like rocks and pools early, giving you more time to react. It can also help you find better routes to take, even if they’re longer. Remember to use your scanner to check how deep the water is. This will help you avoid damaging your engine.

A little far-fetched is the need to act on instinct. If you get stuck, for instance, you may just speed up, hoping you’ll get unstuck. But the game offers controls to tailor your vehicle to different terrains. You can adjust tyre pressure, gear, and more. Remember to reset them to avoid damaging your tyres or consuming too much fuel.

3. Team Up

The good news is that you don’t have to complete expeditions alone. You can go to the Team Composition section to hire several specialists to help you. For instance, a hydrologist can help you avoid water damage to your vehicle. Since most expeditions have water bodies, you always want to add a hydrologist, even if the expedition doesn’t require one. In the long run, you may end up reducing damage to your vehicle, improving your drone range, increasing your supply limit, and much more.

2. Don’t Forget to Turn off the Engine

Drone

Sometimes, during the thick of things, you can forget everyday stuff like turning off the engine when you’re not driving. As an expedition game, you’ll spend most of your time driving. But also, you’ll stop the vehicle to research and scout the areas you come by. During all these moments, remember to turn off the engine. Leaving it running will drain your fuel. Even if you’re only taking a few minutes to admire your surroundings, you always want to turn off the engine. You'll have access to a drone, which makes it a whole lot easier to scout in inaccessible areas. However, while you’re busy flying the drone, you want to turn off the engine.

In that same vein, you want to toggle off your all-wheel drive when you’re not using it. Also, keep your eyes on your fuel meter. Well, not always, but constantly. Just like in real life, the fuel meter will let you know how well you’re doing on fuel consumption. You don’t want to run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere. To monitor fuel, look for the fuel meter on the lower left side of your screen.

Now, how do you counter running out of fuel? Well, again, like in real life, you always need to refuel every chance you get. You can set up fuel stations to help you refuel more. You can also carry additional fuel canisters. Head over to your inventory on the garage menu and equip fuel canisters in your cargo slots. Do note, though, that each canister costs $500. Also, you must have a heavy or off-road truck with a sideboard to equip fuel canisters. Naturally, more giant trucks will also have more inventory space, while cargo slots can be upgraded.

1. Keep Your Jackscrew Closeby

Jackkscrew

You'll have access to several valuable tools. But which ones are most important? Well, for starters, you want to get your hands on a jackscrew. Never head out without one if you can afford it. It’ll help get you out of tight spots, like when your vehicle tumbles upside down. You’ll be surprised at how many times your vehicle will tip over.

The anchor and wench are also pretty handy. While they can take a while to master, they help latch your vehicle and pull you out of mud, respectively. Make sure to buy at least two packs of anchors, jackscrews, and winches, even if you don’t end up using them. Thereafter, upgrade your winch to tap into even more range and power.
