Elden Ring Has Popped Up on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

FromSoftware's Elden Ring has popped up on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as one of its free-to-play titles.

Xbox Game Pass, a subscription-based platform known for harvesting some of the best games of all time, recently added Elden Ring, the highest performing game of 2022, to its library. The problem is, it's not official, and has in fact been uploaded in error. So, if you happened to stumble upon it in the last 24 hours, be mindful that it isn't permanent.

First spotted by Game Pass Counter, Elden Ring was in line to become the next all-star of Game Pass. Unfortunately, though, Microsoft released a short statement claiming that it was an error on their part, and that a patch has since rolled out to cover up its existence on the storefront. Therefore, if you had hopes of saving a pretty penny by playing the best-selling game of 2022 via your Game Pass subscription, then you are, at least for the time being, out of luck.

Will Elden Ring Come to Xbox Game Pass?

So, what are the chances of Elden Ring ever coming to Xbox Game Pass? Well, at the moment, the game continues to sell rather well, even six months after its official release. With that, neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco have the incentive to unleash their works to the Game Pass subscriber base just yet. But that isn't to say it will never happen, as Xbox has proven time and time again that it is capable of pulling in some of the biggest releases.

For now, this is all just a minor hiccup on Microsoft's part. And while you shouldn't scratch out the idea of it landing on the platform one day, you should probably accept that it isn't going to happen anytime soon.
