10 Best Weapons in Fortnite

Updated on

Fortnite's new season has certainly been one of the most entertaining in recent memory. With the absence of the in-game building, the game has never seemed more refreshing to play. This has really changed the scene, especially in Battle Royale. Additionally, the season's new weapon rollout has impacted the current meta, changing the tide of play. That's why you'll want to know what the new best Fornite weapon setup is, to help gather you the most Victory Crowns.

That is why we have rated the current top weapons that stand out for their characteristics or that have been receiving the most attention. Here you have it, the 10 best weapons in Fortnite.

10. Sidearm Pistol

Ol' reliable is what it was they called the Sidearm Pistol back in the day, (Maybe that's just me) however for some odd reason many gamers seem to disregard it currently. You simply can't though as there's nothing better than a trusty sidearm to fall back on the heat of the moment.

Sometimes all you need is a couple of shots to finish off an opponent, and the sidearm makes for a swift opportunity. Its 15 bullet mag size allows you to rapidly fire off shots and it also holds the fasted reload time of all weapons at 1.26 seconds. It may not seem like a great option, but you'd be amazed at how important it can be when you just need two or three bullets to finish off an opponent.

9. Boom Sniper Rifle

In comparison to the Heavy Sniper, which was formerly a popular sniper in Fortnite, the Boom Sniper Rifle brings a lot more to the table. Its main functionality is its Clinger Projectiles which explode upon impact. Even by landing a shot near opponents, not hitting them, the Boom Sniper will deal splash damage which is great for chipping away at opponents. It's also loaded with five bullets which make for a quicker rate between shots, allowing you to continuously pester camping teams.

The only exception is that it is an Exotic weapon in the game currently. That means you'll either have to purchase it from Lt. John Llama for 500 Bars, or it can be gathered from the Malfunctioning Vending Machine. You'll thank yourself later, as it's definitely worth it.

8. Auto Shotgun

Depending on your playstyle, you may have the Auto Shotgun higher on your list, however, it's not the best in its class when it comes down to base stats and raw power. Despite this, there are a lot of moments where it can shine, especially in close quarters. Unlike other shotgun models in the game, the Auto Shotgun is great for spamming opponents stuck in confined spaces. It cover's a wide area for its hitbox and can easily chip away an opponent's armor.

It definitely falters in reload speed as it takes over five seconds, so if you're running it, best to pick up a quick secondary option. Possibly the Sidearm Pistol?

7. Ranger Assault Rifle

The Ranger Assault Rifle is usually the last pick as a primary weapon, but if you hit your shots it makes for one of the best weapons in Fortnite. It has a really slow rate in between shots and gives off a substantial recoil, so every shot you take will count. The good news is that if you can hit your first you will be doing some serious damage. Depending on the weapon type, a single shot can hit for 31 to 37 damage with a 1.5x chance to be a Critical Hit.

If you're feeling extra hot on the sticks then the Ranger Assault Rifle can be your best friend, but if you aren't it can make for a pretty choppy experience.

6. Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle

Nothing beats the satisfying sound of a Bolt-Action Sniper hitting someone. For this reason, it will forever be one of the best weapons in Fortnite.

All it takes is one clean headshot on an enemy squad and you're team is set to push with a man advantage. You definitely don't want to be on the receiving end though, as a single shot can deal anywhere between 89 to 99 damage, which will soften you up for an easy kill. That's why the Hunter Bolt-Action can be so crucial, a single shot can be the deciding factor in how a gunfight turns out.

5. Drum Shotgun

Since its debut in Season 9, the Drum Shotgun has created a solid reputation for itself. With it being an automatic shotgun, loaded with 12 bullets, that deals out 57.6 to 69.6 damage per hit, it's pretty overpowered. On top of that, its reload time is only hovering around 3.5 seconds, making it the second-fastest amongst shotguns. With the second-fastest reload speed, high damage output, and being automatic, you could say the Drum Shotgun is a good choice, and a tad overpowered currently.

4. Stinger SMG

The Stinger SMG is another recently new addition and it's already one of the best weapons in Fortnite. It functions as a typical SMG with an insanely high fire rate, but low damage impact.

The Stinger stands out for its relatively low spread and recoil which makes it relatively easy to hit your shots. Which you'll definitely need to be doing because it only hits for 15 to 19 damage per shot. This makes it great to finish off enemies with no shield, or close-quarters combat, but you can't rely on it through the entire match.

3. Striker Burst Rifle

The Striker Burst Rifle came with the new season and despite its downgrade, it's still one of the best options. Instead of a triple shot burst, this time around it's only a double shot. Regardless, if you're first shot hit's your second will most likely as well, adding up for around 56 to 68 damage, depending on weapon type. Plus it's one of the only weapons with a scope, which makes it useful at long-range distances. It's also a viable option for hip-fire from close range that can tear down an enemy's health with successful hits in succession.

2. Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle

The Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle is really all you can ask for out of a primary weapon. Not only doe's it look Military-Grade, but it functions at the same level as well. It only doe's around 30 damage a hit, but its recoil isn't nearly as close to your other options. Hands down you'll want to grab it for its built-in Thermal Scope. This is great for scanning a town or area for enemies before pushing in.

1. Combat SMG

To no one's surprise, the Combat SMG is securing the number one spot. If you've been playing recently, you're no stranger to knowing that it's the current meta and one of the best weapons in Fortnite. It doe's the greatest damage per shot out of all SMGs and can even hit for a 1.75x headshot multiplier. It definitely comes with more kick, but its damage output is just simply unmatched right now.
