Embracer Schedules Darksiders 4 and Next Kingdom Come for FY 2027/28

Embracer Group has put two of its biggest unannounced sequels on the calendar. In its first-quarter interim report, published August 13, 2026, the Swedish group names Darksiders 4 from Gunfire Games and the next Kingdom Come game from Warhorse Studios as expected releases in its 2027/28 financial year, which runs from April 2027 through March 2028. The externally published Tomb Raider: Catalyst, from Crystal Dynamics alongside Flying Wild Hog and Eidos Montréal, is slated for the same window.

Neither the Kingdom Come sequel nor Darksiders 4 has been formally announced with a title or release date. The report’s pipeline language is the first time Embracer has attached both projects to a specific financial year.

The guidance sits inside a broader release map for the group’s Fellowship Entertainment segment, the IP-led publisher Embracer plans to spin off on Nasdaq Stockholm in calendar 2027. The current financial year is anchored by Metro 2039 from 4A Games and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, both expected in February 2027, with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV now dated for December 3, 2026 after moving out of the second quarter.

What the Report Actually Says

The pipeline disclosure appears in CEO Phil Rogers’ commentary in the Q1 report, framed around a strengthening slate and falling development costs.

“Our pipeline is strengthening while capex and opex continue to trend downwards,” Rogers wrote. “In FY 2027/28, we expect the release of the next game in the Kingdom Come franchise from Warhorse Studios, Darksiders 4 from Gunfire Games, as well as the externally published Tomb Raider: Catalyst from Crystal Dynamics along with Flying Wild Hog and Eidos Montréal.”

The report also sets a cadence target for the spun-off company: from FY 2027/28, Fellowship Entertainment is expected to release at least two major games per year carrying full economics, meaning titles the company finances and publishes itself rather than partner-funded work. The named FY 2027/28 slate is the first concrete picture of what that cadence would rest on.

Two Sequels, Two Different Paper Trails

Both projects have surfaced before, in different forms. THQ Nordic lists Darksiders 4 among its upcoming games with a TBA release window. The Q1 report is the first Embracer document to attach the title to Gunfire Games, the studio behind Darksiders 3 and the Remnant series, and to a financial year.

For Kingdom Come, Warhorse Studios itself confirmed in May 2026 that it is developing an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth, revealed alongside the Fellowship Entertainment spin-off plan, and told players at the time that a new Kingdom Come adventure was also in the works.

Embracer’s financial year ends March 31, so an FY 2027/28 placement puts all three games between April 2027 and the end of March 2028. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II launched in February 2025 and drove a significant catalog contribution in the year-ago quarter, a comparison the report cites in explaining Fellowship Entertainment’s 23% net sales decline this quarter.

The Spin-Off Math Behind the Slate

The release window matters to more than players. Fellowship Entertainment’s equity story, ahead of its planned 2027 listing, is built on exactly these franchises: the segment holds the Kingdom Come, Darksiders, Metro, Tomb Raider, Dead Island and Remnant properties, and the report describes an organization being built “around the needs of an IP-led entertainment company.”

Gaming.net’s earlier coverage of the Q1 report detailed the financial half of that story: net sales up 24% to SEK 3,943 million, Cash EBIT of SEK 47 million against a guided negative print, and a reiterated full-year forecast of at least SEK 1.0 billion. The FY 2027/28 slate is the product half. Fellowship’s Cash EBIT was slightly negative in the quarter at SEK -32 million, which the report attributes to a release-free period and upfront investment in upcoming key projects — the same projects now attached to a delivery window.

The next checkpoints arrive in sequence: Metro 2039 is playable at Gamescom in Cologne later in August 2026, Embracer’s annual general meeting is set for September 24, 2026, and the Q2 report lands November 12, 2026.
