Delta Force: Hawk Ops — Everything We Know

Since 1988, the Delta Force series has captured the hearts of many tactical shooter enthusiasts. The games have authentically portrayed military warfare in a first-person shooter format, offering players an immersive virtual battlefield experience.

As the gift that keeps on giving, the franchise now boasts nine titles, with a tenth one hinted at this month.

Prepare for the return of Delta Force: Hawk Ops, breathing life into the dormant military first-person shooter series. This revival will introduce a free-to-play multiplayer mode, following in its predecessors' footsteps while introducing innovative elements. Curious about what the next chapter in the Delta Force saga holds? We've compiled all the details for you right here. Here's Delta Force: Hawk Ops – Everything we know.

What is Delta Force: Hawk Ops?

Delta Force: Hawk Ops

Delta Force: Hawk Ops is an upcoming title by developer TiMi Studio Group and Publisher Level Infinite. The game centers on actual military combat, with some games in the title mirroring real-life events. Delta Force: Task Force Dagger,  the fourth title in the franchise, was released as a stand-alone title and captured the real conflict in Afghanistan.

Furthermore, the series was started by NovaLogic, which shuttered back in 2016. The studio's assets were acquired by THQ Nordic and, later, Tencent Games. TiMi Studios Group is a division of Tencent Games.

Story

At its heart, Delta Force: Hawk Ops will be a multiplayer game with cross-platform support. Therefore, chances are that the game won't feature a story mode. However, this doesn't eliminate the possibility of a storyline. The fifth installment, Delta Force: Urban Warfare, was the only mainline entrant to feature voice-acted and fully animated cutscenes. While the franchise has traditionally focused on delivering intense tactical shooter gameplay, Urban Warfare deviates from the norm by weaving a compelling story into the gaming experience.

A storyline in Delta Force: Hawk Ops is a little out of left field. However, the developers had this to say about the game:

“We developed the overarching storyline with realistic themes, employed real-life actors for character building, utilized photogrammetry for 3D world creation, captured tactical movements from military professionals, and sought guidance from former Special Forces personnel to ensure an authentic tone of resolute realism and professionalism within the military theme.”

Gameplay

Delta Force: Hawk Ops

In the previous titles, large-scale multiplayer was the main attraction for gamers. Thankfully, the new title retains this with a few added elements. The teaser showcases an open-world battlefield that recreates authentic battle experiences for gamers. Moreover, the game's campaign mode is based on the gripping war film Black Hawk Down.

Furthermore, the game will introduce new talents and abilities. From the trailer, a character calls out for a ‘Recon arrow,' hinting at the use of arrows, similar to Valorant. Moreover, players will have access to power-boosting abilities. Powering up grants you an accelerated sprint, which instantly bridges the gap between you and your adversaries.

Delta Force: Hawk Ops will also feature a range of military vehicles for the convenience of movement and long-range battles. The teaser trailers showcase enthralling gameplay, with players exploring the option of using helicopters and tanks.

According to the developer, “We also created unique, technologically advanced vehicles that players can use in the game, including assault vehicles, helicopters, armored vehicles, attack boats, terrain vehicles, jeeps, pickups, fighter jets, and drones. These vehicles add to the gameplay experience of large-scale player-versus-player.”

To spice it up, the Delta Force series' greatest strength lies in its military actions. The new title will diversify its gameplay with various battle situations. The varying scenarios do not conform to one play style, which calls for diverse approaches, making the gameplay experience more immersive.

Development

As mentioned, the game is a product of TiMi Studios and publisher Level Infinite. You may know the former for their ingenious contributions to Call of Duty: Mobile. The latter is the mastermind behind PUBG: Mobile, Metal: Hellsinger, and Dune: Awakening.

Moreover, speaking to IGN, producer Shadow Guo had this to say about the game's development, “Our team has always been interested in creating realistic military-themed shooter games. As the producer, my first first-person shooter game was Delta Force, and it left a lasting impression on me. Delta Force was celebrated for its realistic depiction of open-world combat, large-scale multiplayer player-versus-player, and its portrayal of ‘Tip of the Spear' Special Operations Forces.” said game producer Shadow Guo.

“Even today, these features continue to have immense appeal, and there remains potential for more innovation. We hope to show the evolution of these features while carrying on the legacy of the gameplay pillars. That's why we decided to reboot the Delta Force franchise. We're proud to carry on that tradition and create a large, dangerous, and unpredictable world where you need to complete various missions, face challenges, and earn rewards.”
