The developers are working on a remastered version of the iconic game that will be available on various platforms.

Nightdive Studios has a reputation for modernizing classic games for current hardware. Their remaster of the classic title will bring a slew of upgrades, elevating the experience for today’s gamers.

  • High Resolution: The game will support up to 4K resolution, ensuring stunning visuals on compatible screens.
  • Smooth Gameplay: Gamers can enjoy up to 120 frames per second (fps), guaranteeing smooth and fluid motion during play.
  • Enhanced Graphics: The remaster will feature advanced 3D rendering, enhanced lighting, and effects for a more immersive environment.
  • Modern Controls: Adding gamepad support, including a convenient weapon wheel, will enhance gameplay accessibility.
  • Achievements: This will incorporate modern gaming features such as trophies and achievements, adding a layer of challenge and replayability.

The remaster, titled Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, will launch on all modern hardware. These include the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The studio aims to launch the game sometime in the fourth quarter of 2023, though a specific date has yet to be revealed.

Star Wars: Dark Forces, originally launched in 1995 for PC, marked a significant milestone in the realm of film-based first-person shooters. 

It showcased an impressive blend of Star Wars atmosphere and engaging gameplay. Players took on the role of Kyle Katarn, a mercenary allied with the Rebel Alliance, embarking on missions to thwart the Empire’s dominance.
