Rockstar Games’ Credits Signal the End of Grand Theft Auto V

Updated on

Grand Theft Auto V could be ready to depart Rockstar Games' grasp, with the studio now finally looking to focus on the sixth instalment.

For the best part of a decade, Rockstar Games' universally loved Grand Theft Auto V has kept its place as one of the highest-grossing, most played video games of all time. Thanks to its countless updates, expansions, and remasters, the global phenomenon has been able to accumulate billions of dollars in revenue. Lately, though, fans have expressed their frustration over the lack of details surrounding the sixth instalment in the series.

As it turns out, Rockstar could in fact be ready to part ways with the game and its online counterpart after ten long and fruitful years. This is, of course, going by a credits page that was recently published on the official Rockstar blog.

Is This the End of San Andreas?

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online represent the combined efforts of our global team over many years,” the message reads. “We want to acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed to these games, from their original launch in 2013 all the way through to present day.”

A credit roll does, of course, signal the end of an era. Although not quite in black and white, it does seem plausible that the game would meet its end on its tenth anniversary. After all, with Rockstar shifting focus over to the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, now seems to be as good a time as any to draw the final curtain.

You can take this with a grain of salt, but it's definitely looking like the end is nigh. As for what comes next for the game is anybody's guess. But from what we've seen so far, it's shaping up to be all song and dance for Grand Theft Auto 6. And San Andreas, if you can believe it, might just be ready to fade into the archives.
