PRED Adds NFL Markets and Switches Contracts to Yes and No Labels
PRED, the peer-to-peer sports prediction exchange, has opened NFL markets for the 2026 season and replaced the Long and Short labels on every contract with Yes and No, the company announced on 16. syyskuuta 2026. Both changes shipped in the week the NFL season started.
PRED launched with trading language because several of its founders spent years on trading desks, where a position is long or it is short. Users who came to the exchange from watching sport kept asking why they could not just say yes or no, the company said, with the question turning up in Discord, in Telegram and in messages to the team from users who had no trouble with anything else in the product.
“You have a view during a match and the view is yes or no,” said Amit Mahensaria, CEO and co-founder of PRED. “Nobody watching a game thinks about exposure. We assumed the question would stop once people had a few trades behind them. It never did, and that told us the problem was ours.”
The mechanics underneath the labels have not changed. The order book, matching and settlement work as before, and traders still take the other side of one another rather than PRED. A Yes contract replaces a Long, a No replaces a Short, and the price on each side still shows where the market sits.
The relabel was not unanimous inside the company. Several traders told the team that the Long and Short wording read fine to them, according to the announcement.
“They were right on their own terms, and coming from a market background they would be,” Mahensaria said. “But a convention that only works for people who already trade is the wrong convention for a product you open during a game.”
PRED said Kalshi and Polymarket have priced contracts as Yes and No from the start, so the change also brings the exchange onto the labeling most of the category already uses.
Season Start and Viewership
The NFL markets opened for a season that began on 9. syyskuuta 2026, with the Seattle Seahawks hosting the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl LX.
The 2025 NFL regular season averaged 18.7 million viewers a game, the second-highest season average since records began in 1988 and up 10% on 2024, according to figures the league released in January. NFL games accounted for 89 of the top 100 programs on US television from the start of that season.
Super Bowl LX averaged 125.6 million viewers in February and peaked at 137.8 million during the second quarter, which Nielsen records as a US high.
The NFL will stage a record nine regular-season games outside the United States in 2026, six of them in Europe, including three in London and a first regular-season game in Paris on 25. lokakuuta 2026.
Market Mechanics and Coverage
The company said an NFL game suits an order book because play breaks into four quarters and halts after most snaps, and one drive can swing a market that had settled. PRED said it matches orders in 200 milliseconds and that its markets resolve in under four minutes once the outcome is confirmed, against the hours an oracle challenge window can take elsewhere.
Alongside the NFL, the exchange covers the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the EFL, MLS, the Champions League and the Europa League, plus the NBA, WTA tennis and Formula 1. Deposits can be made in fiat or crypto, and contracts settle in USDC on Base.
On its live exchange site, PRED listed NFL moneyline markets priced in cents for the new season, with the Detroit Lions at 32.5¢ and the Buffalo Bills at 67.5¢ for a 18. syyskuuta 2026 fixture, alongside moneyline markets for English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga matches.
PRED operates the venue rather than taking the other side of trades, with users trading contracts on sports outcomes with one another on an order book. The company announced the changes from Panama City and is backed by Accel, Coinbase Ventures and Reverie. It said more sports are scheduled for the season.
