WWE 2K26 Review (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, & PC)
Sanningen är, WWE 2K26 is the same game as WWE 2K25, and the game before it. The major change we’ve seen across the franchise is the move to current-gen consoles that brought with it a significant graphical overhaul. And then the addition of new match types, which helps keep matches varied and interesting. Wrestling has never been an actual tävlingssport in the same league as football, basketball, or tennis. It’s a choreography, an impressive one at that, of athleticism and performance. And a lot goes into making the rivalries on-screen ecstatic, much management and show-business planning in the background, all of which are also gameplay options in the series.
It’s why WWE 2K remains an unmatched professional wrestling simulation series. No other game shares the podium alongside it. And while the competition can easily make Visual Concepts och 2K complacent, they sure do still push themselves to satisfy the masses with new changes, however small. These are the incremental updates we’ll be looking at in our WWE 2K26 review, which may not blow your mind, but combined, do result in the best WWE 2K wrestling experience yet. And some caveats to consider as well before giving our verdict.
Vad är nytt?

Let’s get it out of the way, addressing what exactly is new in WWE 2K26. Firstly, Universe now has a new WWE Draft feature, which gives you more freedom over rosters, reassignments, and shaking up the team between Raw, NXT, and SmackDown brands. While you do have new match types, Dumpster, Inferno, and I Quit, veterans will know these have existed in previous iterations in one form or another. Essentially, re-skins of what you’ve played through before, revamped, and I’ll admit, pretty fun, especially Inferno’s dramatism.
From here, we’re looking at minor tweaks here and there that can be hard to miss. At first glance, the graphics and presentation look pretty similar to WWE 2K25. However, a keen eye will realize some wrestlers have more defined and realistic models. But most of all, the entrances have received the best make-over. What happens outside the ring is just as important as inside it. It’s showmanship, and WWE 2K26 understands this with the freedom to create and customize your own entrances. You now have interactive entrances that allow you to fiddle around with pyrotechnics and custom face and heel emotes. And they come with surprise attacks, too, and fans being more hyped up, all adding to the chaos of real-life WWE.
During matches, you now have a stamina “cooldown” mechanic. So, no more reversing moves when you feel like it, but actually having to keep an eye on how quickly you’re draining your meter with your runs, attacks, and reversals. If the meter runs low, your wrestler cannot reverse moves, they move slowly, and are practically defenseless. You now have over 200 Create-A-Superstar save slots and 2,000 Community Creations image capacity. Purely overwhelming for those who want to experiment to their heart’s fullest.
Fågelperspektiv

On the more general side of things, actual gameplay feels smoother and more fluid. It controls without a fret, launching your signature moves and finishers. And it’s in these moments of high adrenaline and dopamine hits that you enjoy the little things. The environmental interactions from performing dives and strikes from on top of the ringside barricade, to the chaotic returning thumbtacks, and more weapons like supermarket carts. And the commentary won’t let you down, with its more authentic, more immersive five-person team of Booker T, Wade Barrett, and more.
But there are more little details that bring you pleasure during matches. When you tinker around with the new Bully Payback mechanic that forces the referee to count down faster. You can stack tables for a more aggressive impact. You can strike from the steel steps. It gets even more exciting when WWE 2K26 retains the injuries and blood sustains from slagsmål. Chaos and showmanship are both dialed up a notch in exciting ways that give you freedom to experiment and discover more aggressive ways to dominate.
Roman Around

As far as the game modes are concerned, WWE 2K26 does improve features within them. The most significant improvement is The Island, which, thankfully, is now more engaging. You no longer focus on impressing Roman Reigns, but can align with three factions: The Order of Anarchy (CM Punk), The Order of Shadows (Rhea Ripley), and The Order of Tradition (Cody Rhodes). Each faction has its dedicated storyline, themes, and skills, with branching narratives. And the Scrapyard is a nice touch, where matches centrally take place, and it has lots of fun interactivity, from scaffolding you can climb to breakable objects and hazards. Also notably, is how characters now have fully voice-acted dialogue and in-game cutscenes as opposed to text-only. And it’s little changes like these that make you want to actually try out and stick around for longer.
Tid är pengar

Changes like quick swaps in MyFACTION that allow you to, well, quickly swap cards mid-battle. It’s instant, through the simple press of a button, which speeds up matches and allows you to manage your team more effectively. Even when cards have individual health, they share signature and finisher meters, which can come in handy during those last-minute knockouts.
Det är din värld

I talked about the freedom and customization WWE Draft adds to the Universe mode, as well as 200+ CAS slots. But there are more minor changes, like the Money in the Bank cash-ins, and generally more freedom to tinker around with the promos, shows, and themes you’d like for your events.
World’s Best Manager

MyGM lets you choose your budget and try to make a profit in the seasons you run. It’s not easy being a WWE manager, and a lot goes into planning a successful season. Who do you book for promos and matches? Who do you trade out? And who do you pit up against each other, and so on. Careful not to drain the stamina of your favorites, given the added double-booking feature. And mind you, other GMs are also competing to see who’s best in the game. Since you have longer seasons, more matches, and can customize your championships, there’s a huge possibility of spending a considerable time here.
Återvänd till ära

MyRISE, meanwhile, now allows for separate men and women division storylines. And while the stories just aren’t quite there yet with compelling RPGs, they do have some fun twists. It’s a relatively similar structure to WWE 2K25, which is disappointing to be yet again redeeming your “The Archetype’s” place in WWE after a two-year hiatus. Appreciated, though, that even after completing the story, you can still return and enjoy additional challenges.
CM Punk, the Legend

And then we have the 2K Showcase mode, featuring cover star CM Punk’s historic moments in WWE history. A reliving of matches imprinted in our long-term memories, but also the opportunity to right wrongs, winning matches CM Punk lost, and even enjoy some exciting “What if?” scenarios. What if CM Punk wrestles Stone Cold? Now that’d be something to experience for yourself. If you’re the type to weary of how tedious it can get completing matches in Showcase just to unlock more characters, matches that, mind you, feel repetitive and unnecessary to be toiling over, I’ve got good news for you. Showcase now has a Gauntlet mode, where you straight-up wrestle all the opponents at a go, about 20. A test of endurance to defeat them all and unlock all the goodies in a single run.
Dags att betala

But see, even with all the potentially good times you’ll have solo or with friends, you now have Ringside Pass coming to ruin the moment. A Battle Pass new feature replacing DLC packages, and work just as you imagine. Advance through levels naturally by playing the various game modes, and you’ll unlock rewards in the form of new characters, cards, and all. On the one hand, it’s a grind that actually encourages you to check out the various game modes, and who knows, you might even enjoy yourself. But the thought that there’s a premium option, a way out, just as long as you pay real money, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Time will tell how predatory the Ringside Pass gets. But as of now, it already demands hitting certain levels to unlock certain superstars who should already be made available to you based on the hard-earned $150 you spent buying the highest-priced Monday Night War edition.
Slutsats

Det är ingen som förnekar det WWE 2K26 is genuinely a great time and worthy of, currently, being the best professional wrestling simuleringsspel out there. Even though Visual Concepts and 2K haven’t made the most dramatic changes in visuals or gameplay, they still have refined certain areas of concern and added little QoL tweaks here and there that all-around make for a much smoother and enjoyable experience.
But the concern of MyFACTION and The Island’s microtransactions and now, the new Ringside Pass premium service lingers on. Sure, it’s possible to pay a one-time fee for your chosen edition. But if the past has taught us anything of value, it’s that the predatory culture of games like these tends to become more persistent the more you shield your eyes from its offer packages.

The Greatest Showman
It’s totally fine to skip out on WWE 2K26 if you have a copy of the previous iterations. Nothing revolutionary has been implemented here to feel FOMO about. However, if you’re looking for the best experience: smoother, more fluid, and overall more enjoyable, WWE 2K26 is it for you.
