Nintendo Unveils Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition Launching 12 de noviembre de 2026

Nintendo announced Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy during its Nintendo Direct presentation on 9 de septiembre de 2026. The new edition launches 12 de noviembre de 2026, and adds voice commands for rescue pup Oatchi alongside Dandori Academy, a new mode built around timed treasure-collection challenges.

The reveal formed part of the Nintendo Direct 9.9.2026 broadcast, and Nintendo’s page for the presentation highlights the edition’s voice commands and high-score Dandori Academy exams. The same Direct covered titles including Monster Hunter Wilds, Metroid Ravenous, and Kirby’s latest 3D adventure, with a Nintendo Treehouse: Live broadcast following the presentation that day to show gameplay of select featured titles. The Direct was also available through the Nintendo Today! smart-device app.

Pre-orders for the Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy Upgrade Pack opened later on September 9 on Nintendo eShop.

Voice Commands for Oatchi

The edition’s control addition runs through the built-in microphone on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo said players can give voice commands to Oatchi, the game’s Rescue Pup companion, and praise him for a job well done.

In the base game, Oatchi can carry the explorer and Pikmin on his back, jump, dig and smash through parts of the environment, retrieve items and drag them where they are needed, and take orders to handle tasks elsewhere, according to Nintendo’s Pikmin 4 game page. Players can also train the Rescue Pup to become more helpful as the adventure progresses.

Dandori Academy

Dandori Academy is a new mode in which players take on challenges that test how quickly they can collect treasure within a stage. Nintendo’s presentation advised planning a path before starting: going in without proper planning can require more Pikmin or a longer route than necessary with treasure in tow, while plotting a route first can improve completion times. The mode offers three difficulty levels, and players can practice on their preferred stages before aiming for a high score.

The mode extends a concept the base game already names. Nintendo defines Dandori as “a practice centered around planning things out in advance and working efficiently,” and Pikmin 4 already contains Dandori Battles and Dandori Challenges, in which players use their time to collect the most items before it runs out.

Academy exams take place each week on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with only one attempt allowed, so Nintendo advises practicing ahead of time. Players earn medals based on how well they perform and can view the scores of friends and players around the world. Nintendo said 72 Dandori Academy stages will be released over time.

The Original Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 originally released on 21 de julio de 2023, for Nintendo Switch, published by Nintendo. The game follows a customizable explorer who must find and rescue the Rescue Corps crew and other castaways while collecting treasure and Sparklium, the element that powers the S.S. Shepherd ship. Players grow, pluck, and lead Pikmin, small plantlike creatures with distinct abilities: Red Pikmin resist fire, Blue Pikmin work on land and in water, Yellow Pikmin handle electricity, and Ice Pikmin can freeze enemies and bodies of water. The roster also includes Glow, Purple, Rock, Winged, and White Pikmin, and up to three Pikmin types can accompany the explorer in the field at one time.

Expeditions run against an in-game day cycle that requires a return to the ship at night, and a Rewind Time feature lets players retry a different approach. Two players on the same system can work together or compete in Dandori Battle, and a co-op mode lets a second player assist in the story with an on-screen pointer. A free update in noviembre de 2025 added Relaxed and Fierce Creature Activity Level options and introduced Decor Pikmin, which can be transferred to the Pikmin Bloom smartphone app.

The game carries ESRB content descriptors for Comic Mischief and Fantasy Violence, with a listed file size of 11.3 GB on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The original Switch version is listed as supported on Nintendo Switch 2 with behavior consistent with the Switch release, and a free demo is available with save data transferable to the full version.
