10 Most Anticipated Games of 2027

I couldn’t possibly exhaust all of the fantastic games coming next year. From brand-new games to sequels and remakes, 2027 is already looking spicy across all genres. I can’t wait to see how God of War Laufey performs, given the departure from Kratos to Faye’s storyline. Fable will most likely take advantage of modern consoles, taking us to a familiar but upscaled immersive and interactive fantasy open-world. Meanwhile, Resident Evil: Veronica is making a wild return, remaking Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, originally released in 2000.  And now for the most anticipated games of 2027.

10. Fable

Fable isn’t new at all to gaming. Back in 2004, it was all the hype of a truly, freely choice-driven game, and especially the way your decisions had a moral impact. The recently released remaster has been a charming walk-back into the humorous and fun adventure of the original games. But now,  you have the chance to play an actual reboot. Still within the action RPG genre, but with the modern hardware, we’re potentially looking at a more immersive, vibrant, and detailed open-world. 

Albion already looks lived-in from the trailers, while you walk around, talking to people, and exploring on horseback. Your offense and defense will have both melee and ranged tools, including magical spells you can cast on bandits and beasts. It’s up to you what kind of reputation you want to build and the path you’d like to follow, with some pretty deep choices teased, set in a fairytale world.

9. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is all well and good for those who prefer more story than action. However, those looking for more than a narrative-driven game set in the same universe will be happy to know that the third-person action RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is underway. Whether or not you’ve watched the sci-fi film, The Expanse, shouldn’t matter much because the upcoming game will tell a new story. You will spot familiar events in the game, but experienced through a fresh pair of eyes and perspective. 

Release Date: Spring 2027

8. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons

Meanwhile, a new Dungeons & Dragons is coming up in a couple of months, one that focuses on warlocks. Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons will be a single-player, third-person, action-adventure game. Your character is a warlock who bears the powers and abilities popular with the warlock class from D&D. So, powers like wielding arcane magic, in addition to physical combat. The developers have really integrated magic at the core of the combat and exploration. It’s a game that will really push you to be creative with magic, and manipulate enemies, and the world around you with it.

Release Date: 2027

7. Exodus

I think we can all agree that Mass Effect and Baldur’s Gate are among the best games ever. And the devs from those games are bringing us Exodus, an action RPG with sci-fi, space-themed, and choice-driven narrative elements. It plans to be a cinematic, single-player experience, playing as the Traveler, leading the last of humanity against the Celestials.

6. God of War Laufey

Finding out that Kratos’ wife, Faye, will be the new protagonist for the next God of War, I admit, left me feeling a little worried that the series will lose its momentum. But from the God of War Laufey trailer, I understood the vision to switch up the pace and Kratos’ fighting style that we’ve become used to. 

Kratos is more grounded and in your face. But Faye moves like a feather, jumping high up, and swinging her sword swiftly. It’ll be an interesting gaming experience for sure that I can’t wait for in the most anticipated games of 2027.

5. Final Fantasy VII: Revelation

So far, so good playing through the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth. And now, we’re nearing the end of the trilogy with Revelation. The open-world will be bigger than ever. You’ll get more characters, including Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine. And being the ending to the trilogy, I can’t wait to see how Square Enix handles delivery for both fans and newcomers, and, hopefully, we can find some closure.

4. The Wolf Among Us 2

The Wolf Among Us is a murder-mystery story by Telltale Games, but the stakes were actually high, and really forced you to think about moral choices and where your loyalty lies. And even when you made the wrong choices, somehow it felt right, like it was something you could live with. And soon, The Wolf Among Us 2 will be here, also a neon-noir thriller.  Apparently, the sequel will go bigger (or go home). Are you ready to step into Bigby Wolf’s cum sheriff of Fabeltown’s shoes?

3. Metro 2039

The Metro series has already established itself as a feverish, empty-your-guts survival horror experience. Yet, balanced a fair bit of first-person shooting as well. For the fourth entry titled Metro 2039, you’ll be heading back underground, to the chaos and tyranny of living in the Moscow subway system. Or surviving, more rightly, which I appreciate. It’s the claustrophobic walls, cornered down by mutants, that really put the fear of God in me.

2. Frostpunk: 1886

While the original Frostpunk released in 2018, Frostpunk: 1886 plans to bring not only its visuals but mechanics up-to-date. Gamers have been asking for lots of feature updates, content revamps, expansions,  and optimization. I think what’s clear is that the devs shouldn’t just throw on a new coat of paint on top of the old game, but rather add features that improve replayability, and remove those that are tedious or redundant.

1. Resident Evil: Veronica

Resident Evil: Veronica, in turn, remakes Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. For the most anticipated games of 2027, it might seem surprising to even top the list. The original game was pretty rough. From the story to the gameplay, none of it could hold a candle to the stronger entries in the series. I think that’s what’s got me most excited, paired with Capcom’s recent excellent remake of Resident Evil 4. It’s an exciting challenge to see them reimagine the original’s story, transform the graphics, and modernize the gameplay by today’s standards.
