Electronic Arts
The post, published at 8:09 PM from the Marvel’s Iron Man account on X, was brief and did not directly describe the material that prompted it. It read: “Well, that didn’t go as planned. But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.” The message was the first post ever made from the account, which was created in 2023년 6월 and had remained silent through more than three years of development. The account’s profile describes the project simply as “Marvel’s Iron Man. In Development with Motive Studio.”
The statement did not use the word “leak” and offered no detail on what had been shown, how it was obtained, or when a fuller reveal might arrive. It confirmed only that something unplanned had reached the public and framed the moment as an early, unintended look at a game the studio says it is not yet ready to present formally. “See you when we’re ready” was the only timing the account provided for a proper unveiling.
The game at the center of the episode has been one of EA’s least-visible projects since its announcement. On its official studio page, Motive describes the title as “an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game, developed in collaboration with Marvel Games.” Beyond that description, the Montreal-based studio and its publisher have released no trailer, screenshot, or release window in the years since the project was made public.

Motive first spoke publicly about the Iron Man project in 2022년 9월, well before it had anything to show. In a studio update published on 2022년 9월 20일, General Manager Patrick Klaus explained that the team was “very much in the early stages” and expected “a big game like this to take years to create.” Klaus said the decision to announce so early was driven partly by recruitment, writing that the goal was “to invite developers who are just as passionate about Marvel as we are to consider joining Motive,” and that the studio also wanted to engage with the community of players in due course.
Three days later, on 2022년 9월 23일, Motive published a closer introduction to the team building the game. Olivier Proulx was named executive producer, with Ian Frazier as creative director, JF Poirier as senior producer, and Maëlenn Lumineau as franchise development director. At that point, the group said the project was in pre‑production: building character arcs, doing visual research on art direction and environment design, testing and prototyping gameplay ideas, writing the story, and researching the cities it wanted to create.
The team’s prior experience, as described by Motive, connects directly to the demands of an Iron Man game. Proulx spent nine years at Eidos Montreal before joining Motive, work that culminated in the launch of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Frazier had served as creative director on Star Wars: Squadrons, and cited that project as preparation for this one, noting that flying “is so fundamental to the fantasy of being Iron Man” and that the Squadrons team had spent three years working out how to make flight compelling. Poirier and Lumineau both described Iron Man and Tony Stark as characters whose flaws and complexity create room for original storytelling.
Motive offered one further official update on the project in 2024년 4월. In a studio post published on 2024년 4월 9일, Klaus wrote that development was continuing to move forward and confirmed the leadership pairing of Proulx as executive producer and Frazier as creative director. He said the team had made “excellent progress” that year, hitting what he called a major internal milestone and laying a robust foundation for the work ahead, and described Iron Man as “an important priority for Motive.”
That same update announced that a separate group of Motive developers, led by the directors of the studio’s 2023 Dead Space remake, would begin contributing to the Battlefield franchise. The Iron Man project, Klaus made clear, would continue in parallel as a distinct effort.
Between the 2022년 9월 announcement and the 2026년 8월 28일 post, EA and Motive released no gameplay, no cinematic material, and no date for the Iron Man project. The account that spoke this week had been registered more than three years earlier, in 2023년 6월, and had not posted once in that span. Its first message, prompted by footage the studio had not chosen to release, became the most substantial public communication about the game to date.
The post closed with a commitment to show more of the game when the team is prepared to do so, but attached no date or event to that promise.
