Beginner’s Guide to Halloween: The Game – 10 Tips
Halloween: The Game seems pretty straightforward until you start playing it and realize how easy it is to get lost in the game. It isn’t like most asymmetrical survival horror games like Dead by Daylight, where the goal is for the killer to kill everyone else before the time runs out, and the civilian is to find an escape before the killer gets to you.
The goal in Halloween: The Game is actually more complex than that. Rather than save yourself, the game challenges you to save everyone first, including the NPCs that are already spread out across the map. You also have to explore the map for certain items that are necessary for finding the exit. Meanwhile, Michael’s goal isn’t simply to kill everyone, but to kill certain special targets and accumulate enough points to win.
So, you see, a beginner’s guide to Halloween: The Game is much needed, if at all you’re to make the most of your time in the game and make sure that you come out on top.
10. How to Win

I think it’s important to make it clear what exactly it takes to win Halloween: The Game, and I’ll split these into two: how to win as Michael and as a Civilian, since they are the two major roles you can choose.
As Michael, you’re only one guy against four other players, as well as NPCs. But if you can focus on the following win conditions:
- If you can kill more residents than the other players can save, then you score more points and win the game
- Alternatively, if you can kill all the residents, then that’s an automatic slam dunk
Now, please note that among the residents, a few are special targets who score more points when killed (or saved) for either side.
The Civilian win conditions should be clear then. They need to rescue as many residents, focusing first on the special targets, before saving themselves. But there’s another win condition. You can work together with the police to detain Michael Myers, effectively weakening him and putting him down.
9. Locate Special Targets
It goes then to say that the first order of business once you spawn in Halloween: The Game is to locate and kill/save the special targets. For Civilians, they have better luck finding special targets because they are immediately shown to you via map and mini-map color-coded markers. Yellow is for special, high-priority targets, while blue is for regular residents.
Michael, however, needs to build his bloodthirst to Level One to begin spotting special targets, and to do so is simply stalking and killing, which you can start with the easier NPCs to find. Note that you can stalk dead bodies, too.
8. You Gotta Hide First
As a Civilian, you stand a terrible chance against Michael. So, you definitely want to hide, and most importantly, tell the residents to do so as well. So, once you find the special targets, tell them to hide. And the beauty in this is that their map markers will disappear, so Michael can’t find them.
7. Call the Cops
Once the special targets are hidden, you can search for the regular residents, and since they aren’t a high priority to save, you can get them to help you. A most crucial help is to have them call the cops, who will provide several benefits, including an exit plan, limiting Michael’s abilities, and distracting him. Dead players can even respawn as cops.
Note that you can call the cops yourself, but it’s better for an NPC to do it because they’ll take less time, and depending on your character’s personality, an NPC may be more trustworthy.
6. Find Hidden Items
While the NPC is calling the cops, don’t just stand around. Find hidden items, which are so many. Mind you, even when exploring the map, you’re still finding hidden items. Some useful items you should look out for are med kits, lanterns, repair kits, flares, flashlights, and more.
5. But Give Special Priority to Finding a Weapon
You can’t be flipping through all the drawers and searching every nook and cranny, though, for hidden items, especially with limited inventory space. So, some quick priority items are gas cans, repair kits, and fuel, which you’ll need for escaping in a car. Or bolt cutters and cellar keys for escaping in cellars.
But an important item you want to always have with you is a weapon. And these are varied between melee and ranged, including baseball bats, bricks, flare guns that stun Michael, flashlights that blind him, and more.
Another thing to note is that weapons can also be used to break objects, specifically for Michael, when he wants to break phone lines and power switches to sabotage the other side.
Remember that NPCs can help you find hidden items, and they can also carry them, including weapons.
4. Study the Map
Which brings me to the next tip. Study the map, and remember the places where you’re likely to find certain items, residents, or even where Michael likes to spawn. Some items have preset locations. Sometimes exits, too.
3. Identify Exit Plan

That’s right. Exit plans are quite a few options, each one having a limited number of people who can use it. After finding the items needed for a specific exit plan, you can then direct, for instance, five residents to the cellars or four to the police car.
2. Never Stay in One Place
It seems rather obvious, but when you’re busy searching for hidden items, it can be easy to forget that a moving target has the best chances of survival.
1. Remember to Collaborate
Collaboration, too, can be easy to forget. However, the civilian survival strategy is teamwork. Nothing else. Particularly when locating hidden items, you’ll have a better chance of finding all the necessary ones if you work together. Also, in scenarios when Michael grabs one player, it’ll be easier to rescue them when you work together to stun Michael and even take him down.
