YouTube has strung up a banner to celebrate a powerful new milestone for the Minecraft domain. Why? Well, because as of this moment, the sandbox sensation has tallied up a mouth-watering one trillion views, garnered from all over the globe.

First launched back in 2009 for a rather close-knit collective, Minecraft quickly became an up and coming hit for both sandbox and role-playing fans alike. Come 2011, the game released in its final state, effectively giving the fresh-faced Mojang Studios a foothold to retain for future years to come. And now, skipping forward a whole decade of mind-boggling creations and communal memories, we stand united to celebrate its latest milestone.

With a Netflix deal on the back burner, a selection of spin-off games with Telltale, and a whole line of merchandise to bolster its status — it's clear that Minecraft is here to stay. The only question that remains, of course, is what Mojang Studios will employ next to further evolve the sandbox phenomenon.

Twelve years of building, one trillion streams

Of course, YouTube has been the social hub for Minecraft creators and players since day one, with top-shelf streamers using the platform to promote their worlds and forge legacies for the archives. And now, we're looking at one trillion views — making it the most watched subcategory on all of YouTube.

Where Minecraft goes next is another question; one that is only likely to receive waves of positivity and renown. But, of course, we'll just have to see how the guys over at Mojang Studios play their cards. Whatever the case, we're expecting big things, as always.

Will you be celebrating this tremendous milestone today with a new Minecraft build? Are you at all surprised by the one trillion YouTube views? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
