What Wrestling Fans Can Expect From The AEW Console Game?

Diehard wrestling fans are eager to know how the upcoming “AEW (All Elite Wrestling)” video game will be. AEW superstar, Kenny Omega confirmed at Starrcast 3 that the “Video game for AEW is top of my priority list.” The question is, “Will AEW be bigger than WWF: No Mercy”? If so, does WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) stand a chance at competing with AEW as it relates to video games? While there's no known platforms for the “AEW” console video game, it is said to be released in 2022. 

Well, they were creating 3 AEW video games: two mobile games and one console game. The first AEW game launched in February 26, 2021, called, “AEW Casino: Double or Nothing” for Android and iOS devices. 

Developed by Crystallized Games is the upcoming “AEW Elite General Manager” game (for Android and iOS), where there’s a general manager mode app. Budget your money, manage your own roster, and put on an excellent show. It’s known that the “AEW” console game is rumored to be like “WWF No Mercy, where intergender wrestling will an option. 

What you can expect to see in the “AEW” console video game? What would AEW be without Cody Rhodes (35, Executive Vice President of AEW) and Kenny Omega (37, who is also Executive Vice President of AEW)? While AEW: Dynamite premiered on October 2, 2019, live on TNT from the Capital Zone Arena in Washington DC, you can imagine the dynamite of new fans wearing “AEW” t-shirts. 

As we all know, the mere thought of AEW maddens Vince McMahon (the chairman of WWE). AEW: Dynamite has “WCW” (World Championship Wrestling) vibes like “WCW Monday Nitro when it competed with WWE: Monday Night Raw in the television ratings. 

According to Sportskeeda’s Dropkick Diskussions,” “Kenny Omega was asked about AEW’s television show going against NXT. Kenny responded, “You can call it a war if you want. It’s like, to me, we’re in a completely different kind of business. I mean what they’re doing is different from what we’re doing. It’s weird, because it’s hard to say you’re going to war with people that I call my friends,” he explained.”

As globally known as WWE is, All Elite Wrestling offers excellent storytelling with creative control and you can’t expect anything less in the video game. For some fans, the WWE 2K series just may be more entertaining than a 3 hour episode of Monday Night Raw depending on if the “Writers” rewrote a lengthy script 5 minutes before a match, which could take a time traveler to remember in front of a live, jam-packed audience. 

How will the “Career Mode” be? Perhaps, in career mode, you can select which wrestler you want whether they’re on the active roster, a legend, or are customized. Jon Moxley can have brawls with numerous opponents backstage, whether it’s in a bar or a boiler room backstage. What’d make this game spectacular is the full capability of exiting the ring and fighting in the audience, where fans can get attacked. 

Maybe fans can offer weapons for wrestlers to use in matches or there’s a way for playable wrestlers to exit the actual wrestling arena and fight outside. 

The 90s “Attitude Era” is considered the best period in wrestling with an entire roster full of creative gimmicks like The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Triple H, Rikishi, Kane, Kurt Angle, Mankind, The Hardy Boyz, and more. How can AEW compete with the history of WWE in video games? WWE has legends like Bret Hart, Bruno Sammartino, Mark Henry, Hulk Hogan, etc.

AEW is still a new company and has superstars like Dr. Brit Baker, Matt Hardy (who debuted on March 18, 2020, as the fifth member of ‘Team Elite’ on AEW Dynamite), Chris Jericho, Christopher Daniels, Shawn Spears, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, etc. The legendary Jim Ross has joined the AEW commentary team, which must’ve added tension between WWE, where he used to commentate.

If you’re upset that your favorite superstars are not on a “WWE 2K” game or AEW game, simply create a superstar. The Create a Finisher mode should be an astonishing, record-breaking feat. 

I’d love for the AEW video game to have an optional Replay Mode for when a playable wrestler attacks an opponent. The move can replay at least three times, just like in WWF: No Mercy. Or how about an option of handcuffing and/ or marrying other wrestlers? That’d be interesting, especially for wrestling fans who grow up drooling over their crush. 

After covering that AEW is not planning on letting its fans down, that can only mean that the WWE 2K series has tough competition. There’s only one way to find out if the AEW console game will be great. You’ll just have to wait.
