Ubisoft drops “Tom Clancy’s” from XDefiant
A while ago, Ubisoft announced XDefiant to be in the works. Shortly after that, a closed playtest was conducted and everything else has been kept under the wraps. Ubisoft's FPS endeavor with XDefiant did not receive as much hype as some other games did. In fact, reviews based on some early glimpses were mixed. But now the developers have decided to separate the project from the Tom Clancy series.
Last week, Ubisoft shared an update after quite a long while. The devs have started “XDefiant Insider Sessions” which is nothing but a series of closed testing. This will help the devs gather feedback about the game.

Along with this, the game creator announced that moving forward, XDefiant won't be a part of the Tom Clancy series. The game would be called just “XDefiant”. With “Tom Clancy” dropped from the title, is unclear whether or not the game will retain the earlier content.
Will XDefiant have Tom Clancy content?
However, the Tom Clancy elements won't be entirely negated from the game. XDefiant is a game where players can witness all the crossover factions coming together. As per an initial announcement, XDefiant was supposed to have crossovers from Ubisoft's other games like The Division, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell.
Elaborating more on the divorce from Tom Clancy, the devs said that they're planning on adding more factions from other games. Further, the new playtests will be kept under wraps so fans shouldn't expect any glimpses into the game.
The devs did not mention any of the new factions that will be a part of this XDefiant revamp. But if you look at the recent popularity of Assassin's Creed, it isn't hard to guess that it'd be involved in the new game. Considering that playtests are underway, we can expect Ubisoft to give us a sneak peek into the project soon.
On the same note, PC and console users can sign up to be a part of the insider sessions playtests. You can head over to the official Ubisoft site and sign yourself up!
