Ubisoft Announces Rainbow Six Mobile

Updated on

Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft's world-famous competitive tactical FPS, can now be played on the move. The mobile version is known as Rainbow Six Mobile (R6M) and is set to launch sometime in 2022 on iOS and Android shops, free of charge. Not only is that sweet, but let me be the first to say, you'll be surprised at how close the game looks to the real thing.

According to Ubisoft's blog on R6M, the team of devs states, “we’ve rebuilt everything from the ground up with mobile usability in mind.”. However, that doesn't imply that the game will be completely different. The game is still a five-on-five, tactical breach and clear FPS. Also, the core gameplay, characters, and maps from Siege still make up the foundation of the game. What has been created from scratch is a control system designed exclusively for mobile, including considerable optimization for UI and in-game visuals.

After three years of careful development, the R6M announcement trailer show's that Ubisoft prioritized creating a decent mobile version of Siege.

Maps and Operators

Only two maps will come with the launch of Rainbow Six Mobile, but they are a couple of fan favorites. The first map is Bank, which is an undisputed classic amongst Siege enthusiasts. The second one being Border. It's one of the most open and destructible maps in Siege, so it should be interesting to see how it plays on mobile.

There are no new Operators in R6M, however, there is a solid list of familiar faces from Siege. On the attacking side, you can choose from Ash, Sledge, Twitch, Thermite, and Hibana. On the other side, defenders can choose from Caveira, Bandit, Smoke, Valkyrie, and Mute. It should be interesting to test out R6M, hopefully, it plays just as fun as it looks.
