 on

Farming sims are all the rage in recent years, thanks to games like Stardew Valley. Originally popularized by the Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons) series, living a quiet farm life has been popular for years. These games have especially become popular on PC, and many gamers around the world use them to unwind from their life. These games also come with other mechanics like fishing, mining, and dating. If you have played out the other farming sims already, then you are likely looking for a title to entertain you. Luckily, there are quite a few great farming sims that should be coming out in 2022.

5. Coral Island

Coral Island is a farming sim that is set on a tropical island. The game not only features farming but features the ability to explore the oceans around you. You will be able to dive into the surrounding water and explore the reefs. There will also be mermaids that you can interact with while exploring.  While you are on land, you can experiment with growing crops or finding a character to marry. Like most farming games, you can interact with the townsfolk to learn their stories and get closer to them.

There are quite a few environmental themes around Coral Island and what damage we can do to our environment. Not only is the game promoting a great cause, but the gameplay looks solid. There are already several dateable characters and tons of island lore for you to uncover as you play. Who knows, you might even end up loving some rather surprising characters.

4. Wylde Flowers

Wylde Flowers is a game with farming in it. You move to a new town and take up the role of being the town witch. You will need to farm to get the ingredients you need to do certain spells, which add an extra layer of fun. The game is already out on mobile, but PC players will soon be able to experience it for the first time. This is great as players will be able to easily run the game, as it is a bit demanding on phones. Wylde Flowers features 30 characters that you can get to know and form relationships with. This even includes the ability to marry some of the townsfolk if you so choose to.

There is also a huge story to uncover as you learn more about the world around you and master magic. If you have been attracted to the idea of witches and farming, then this is a game you should really check out. Everything blends together well to create an engaging gameplay experience. The magic system even goes as far as to give you control over the weather. All you need to do is keep playing and gathering ingredients to become a top-notch witch.

3. Roots of Pacha

Roots of Patcha takes you back into the stone age and introduces you to primitive farming. Unlike many of the games on this list. Patcha has a heavy focus on co-op play and wants players to work together to take on its world. There are even special cutscenes that have been made to aid in the multiplayer experience. If you are wanting to play a relaxing game with friends, then this one is a great choice. You even have the ability to share resources and ride animals together for a smooth gameplay experience. Even the games festivals can be joined by multiple players.

It plays like other farming sims, just without things like sprinklers. You will need to grow crops, deal with animals, and learn new skills to improve your life. You can unlock new technology, shape the religion around you, and unlock several different trades.  You will also have a clan around you that with whom you can interact with. Like most farming sims, this means that marriage is on the table, as is getting to know characters' unique backstories.

2. One Lonely Outpost

Doing other activities than farming.
One Lonely Outpost is a game that revolves around making your home on a foreign planet. Instead of going to your grandpa's farm, you must help manage life on another planet. You will need to decide how to handle life on your new planet. You can, of course, spend your time farming, but there are other things like exploration that need your attention. In addition, since you are growing alien crops, you will need to keep up with all your new discoveries. One Lonely Outpost sets out to be as much of an adventure as it is a farming sim.
If you are looking for a farming sim with more content than tending to cows, then this is a great pick. It's not often that sci-fi and sims come together, but when they do, it can be a fun time. As you play the game, the world around you will develop, and you can learn about the history of your planet. This gives you both character development and lore to sink your teeth into when taking a break from your plants.

1. Lightyear Frontier

Farming in Lightyear Frontier.

Lightyear Frontier is a gorgeous-looking farming sim. This time instead of tiling the fields with your own hands, you are using mechs. These robots are specially designed to tend to crops and help you make a wonderful farm. The game is set on an alien planet that you can take on alone or with friends. You can build a home, explore the past of the planet, or even decorate your mech. It's the ultimate marriage of robots and agriculture that the world never knew it needed.

Like most farming games, the seasons will change, and there are hazards. You will need to be able to make a sustainable farm and balance your time out to explore the world around you. This game isn't as focused on romance or getting to know NPCs, but sci-fi fans will feel right at home.
