All of these exploration type of video games tend to amuse us, but to what greater lengths can the next game reach? If you are still wondering, in “Humankind,” the upcoming 4X video game, you have access to create your own civilization. “Amplitude Studios,” (the same developers that brought you ‘Endless Legend’), soon to be published by “SEGA” (a corporation known by everyone), will be released in August 17, 2021. “Humankind” will be released on the following platforms: “Epic Games,” “Steam,” and “Google Stadia.” May your cereal get soggy as you play “Humankind”?

Gameplay:

By combining 60 historical cultures (from the Ancient to the Modern Age), create your own civilization. Nearly endless outcomes will be found when you play as a different culture. The player with the most fame wins. That sounds easy. Every moral choice, deed, and battle can increase your fame. That means if you beat up enemies and partake in peaceful activities (like owning a large city or constructing things), your fame will increase. Face historical events and change the course of humankind.

“Humankind” is a historical/strategy game where you can rewrite the narrative of human history. What is good to know is there are six distinct eras in the game, which begins with the prehistoric era. This is where you build your first settlement, split your tribe up to get more accomplished (where the risk is mammoths attacking), or stay with your tribe. Out of 60 cultures in “Humankind,” there are 10 cultures in each era. Some of the cultures: Hittites, Chinese, Harappans, Libyans, Babylonians, Nubians, Assyrians, Romans, Germans, and Egyptians.

Okay. What are the 6 eras exactly? According to “Humankind's Twitter” account, there was a post from last year covering this. The username “Karl Johan” asked, “What are the eras? I know bronze and classic so far. Which others are you having in the game?” The response was “Good question! There are six different eras in HumankindGame:

1. Ancient Era (previously Bronze Era)

2. Classical Era

3. Medieval Era

4. Early Modern Era

5. Industrial Era

6. Contemporary Era.”

This sums up the eras that we should see in the “Humankind” game. What does this change? All this does is make us fantasize about all of the history we can manipulate like we were actually around to claim victory, to reign over lands, and more. There are over 21 stars in each era and because there is six eras, that is 126 stars you can possibly earn.

Terrains:

If you find landmarks like the largest ocean or desert, you can name them. Just like real life, the high ground suits you for a combative advantage, also being useful for scouting. There is a certain realistic, aesthetic biome type in each terrain.

At the end of each era, there is a list of 10 cultures you have to choose to represent (in the following era). Each culture have different traits like Rome’s famous empire-building or Nubians’ knack for commerce.

Humankind’s Cities:

The map will be divided into regions that you can claim. How? Build a city or an outpost in the regions. It can be accessible to combine regions. Some districts will turn into city centers, developing into a more modern look throughout the timeline. Other districts will turn into emblematic quarters, where the original, historical look remains. Basically, each city looks unique.
