The Wolf Among Us 2 Has Been Delayed to 2024

Telltale Games' The Wolf Among Us 2 will no longer be releasing in 2023.

It's no secret that Telltale Games' The Wolf Among Us 2 is one of gaming's most anticipated sequels, period. And it's because of this fact that, as painful as it is to admit, the guys over at Telltale need to tread the waters carefully before casting it out for public consumption. With that, it comes as no major surprise that the team has, in fact, pushed the launch out of 2023 and towards a vague 2024 window.

We can't pin the blame of Telltale, though, as anyone who's followed the company will know of the trials it has recently had to endure. Besides the rebranding, TTG has also transitioned over from Unreal Engine 4 to 5, and has also spent a lot of its time working on its second game, The Expanse, which is also planning to release in 2023. Because of this workload, its overheads have ultimately made the decision to delay The Wolf Among Us 2 to avoid a team burnout.

CEO Jamie Ottilie Has Spoken

“Making games is difficult and they need time to be right,” Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie told IGN. “And it doesn't do any of us any good to ship something that's not ready.”

“If we put this game out and it's not ready, we're going to get torn to shreds,” Ottilie continued. “The expectations are pretty high, and we want time to meet those and we want to be proud of it and know that, ‘Hey, this is the best game we could have made.'”

As for when the sequel will launch is still anybody's guess, as it will continue to be until Telltale shed some additional light on the matter. Until it does, however, we'll have to settle for The Expanse and simply hope for the best. If we're lucky, we could just see a long overdue update drop before Q4 2023.
