The Last of Us Remake Will Be Coming to PlayStation 5 & PC in September

Updated on

Well, it's official: The Last of Us will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC later this year. News of this broke out just hours before the Summer Game Fest, causing mass confusion between gamers and insiders alike.

Although barely scratching its ten-year anniversary on PlayStation 3, Naughty Dog has now gone ahead and made plans to revive the Sony essential, giving it a relatively close release date of September 2, 2022. And it doesn't just stop there, either, as the remake will also include the Left Behind DLC. Together, the bundle will rack up a lofty $70 price tag, one that reflects all the hard work that Naughty Dog has crammed into it to make it a modern masterpiece.

“Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters of Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards and now rebuilt for PlayStation 5,” the description reads. “Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”

Of course, with Summer Game Fest on the nearby horizon, we're sure to get a deeper look into not only the enhanced visuals, but some of the gameplay, too. That said, we'll just have to hang fire until Naughty Dog decide to shed light on the whole thing. Fingers crossed we'll see plenty of nifty bits and pieces later on today.
