December has fallen upon us, which for gamers is a time to reflect on the year's top games and for developers to prepare for The Game Awards 2022. Hosted Annually, The Game Awards features 31 awards for games released in the previous calendar year. Story games will compete for accolades like best visual direction, greatest narrative, and the sumptuous Game of the Year Award. Even professional Esports games, teams, athletes, and coaches have their own categories. In addition, there is a new award for the best adaption, which may interest you if Arcane or Edgerunners were on your radar this year.

Aside from that, you're probably curious about where to watch the show, and exactly at what time. The Game Awards 2022, will air live on Thursday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, and you can watch it on The Game Award's official Youtube or Twitch channels, along with feeds from their Facebook, Tik Tok, and Twitter page.

The show will air with a 30-minute pre-show before the main event commences at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. You can also catch the event live on Steam, and even register to win a free Steam Deck; where they will be giving away one 512GB Steam Deck every minute during the live airing of The Game Awards.

What Else to Expect From The Game Awards 2022

Aside from the infamous Game of the Year award, The Game Awards also look to announce, highlight, and reveal trailers for games expected to come in the new year. According to an interview with Geoff Keighley on Epic Games, this year's event will be the, “biggest show yet”. Brian Crecente note's in the interview that the show is expected to feature “40 to 50 games across the show – some reveals, some existing titles.”
