3.  Bovada

How to Place A Parlay

Next on our list is the Bovada sportsbook and casino, which emerged in 2011. For the first five years of operation, the platform held the Kahnawake Gambling Commission’s license, but in 2016, it decided to give up on it after the Commission went through a policy change that Bovada did not approve of. For the last six years, it has operated without a license, but that still did not affect its quality or performance.

Its sportsbook offers a variety of popular payment methods, and the ability to bet on all kinds of big sports franchises, such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAA football, NCAA basketball, and NHL, among others. Apart from traditional currencies, it also accepts Bitcoin, and it features mobile availability. And, if bettors ever experience an issue or need any sort of help, they can contact customer support at any time via email, phone call, or live chat.

It holds the Panama City license, and it features multiple secure payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover card, American Express, wire transfers, and even cryptocurrencies.

For those who make a minimum deposit of $55, the platform offers a generous welcome bonus, and those who use cryptocurrencies can also benefit from a number of promotions. In addition to regular, monotonous betting, there is also proposition betting that lets users bet on questions, such as which team will be the first to make the 3-point shot, and alike, just so make it more exciting.

The benefits of using this platform keep popping up, but in terms of flaws, it only has 3 eSports games, at least for the time being. But, there are plenty of regular sports, like MLB; NHL, WNBA, golf, soccer, tennis, MMA, boxing, NASCAR, F1, and many more options for new and experienced bettors.

In the sixth spot, we have BUSR, which stands for Bet US Racing. This is easily the best racebook for the US, and one of the leading sportsbooks, available across the country, with the only exceptions being New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. Luckily, Nebraska is not on the list.

There are numerous betting options on the platform, apart from horse races, such as MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MMA, NCAA, betting on live baseball, and more. Ever since, the platform has been running smoothly, licensed by the Panama Gambling Control Board, and servicing US bettors with no issues.

It features multiple great betting opportunities, and a variety of payment methods, including crypto and fiat options alike, and it even has a casino section. Sports betting in Nebraska

Sports betting in Nebraska got legalized very quickly after the public expressed its interest in it. Basically, back in 2020, Sen. Wayne came up with three ideas to legalize sports betting. One of them was to legalize it as a game of chance, and the bill that proposed it also proposed legalizing some poker games and daily fantasy sports.

The bill, known as LB 990, was written ambiguously, and it left the door open to allow online sports betting to come. Another bill, however, aimed at legalizing sports betting as a lottery, while the third wanted to see it put on the ballot and leave it to the voters. Unfortunately, all three bills died in the committee, but the voters still expressed their interest in sports betting come November, leaving the regulators with little choice but to come to an agreement in 2021.

Eventually, they did, and now Nebraskans are waiting for the proper sports betting ecosystem to emerge. Unfortunately, there is no clear timeline that indicates when this might be finished, so sports betting can be expected at any point from now until 2024. Meanwhile, the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission is in the middle of approving casinos at licensed horse racing tracks, which might require building permanent sports betting spaces.

One thing that we know for certain is that wagers will need to be placed in-person and only at qualifying facilities, as mobile sports betting was not approved in Nebraska. The move will limit both participation and generated revenue, but there is yet hope that it might come later this decade after the state experiences the additional revenue from in-person sports betting and sees the potential of including the mobile version as well.

After all, most nearby states do have mobile sports betting legalized, including Omaha and Colorado. Even South Dakota residents approved sports betting, all the way back in November 2020, while Kansas and Missouri continued to discuss the bills and work on legalization too.

When will online sports betting come to Nebraska?

For the time being, there is no clear answer to this question. The bill that became law in 2021 legalized sports betting in the state, but only in person. Legislators could revisit the mobile betting option every year until it gets approved, provided that there is someone who would keep proposing it and fighting for it.

Typically, states with mobile sports betting legalized stand to generate more betting revenue, so it is in Nebraska’s interest to allow it for those who live in areas where accessing in-person betting sites is not an option.

Most popular sports to bet on in Nebraska

Once sports betting arrives, we were interested in seeing what betting options might be particularly popular in the state. As it turns out, Nebraska doesn’t have any professional sports teams, but it still has the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, which will likely attract the most interest.

As for professional sports, most in Nebraska would likely turn to Colorado and Kansas teams, such as Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs.

As for daily fantasy sports, this sector has not yet been legalized, although there are numerous providers that operate country-wide, and they also offer their services here. Other than that, horse racing is the only legal option, with pari-mutuel betting, meaning that players bet against one another, instead of the house. There are currently six tracks, including Atokad Park, FairplayPark, Horsemen’s Park, Columbus Exposition & Racing, Fonner Park, and Lincoln Race Course.
