SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Gameplay Trailer Revealed

THQ'S follow-up to 2020's Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, has received a new gameplay trailer outlining its story, characters, and theme.

Since being announced back in September last year, THQ's long-awaited spiritual successor to Battle for Bikini Bottom, The Cosmic Shake, has remained pretty quiet, with little to no details shared outside of its title and genre. Today, however, is a joyous occasion for the upcoming 3D platformer, with THQ finally breaking the silence over a new gameplay trailer.

The Cosmic Shake delves back into the world of SpongeBob and Patrick and the whirlwind adventures that revolve around Bikini Bottom. In the new watery expedition, the two will embark on a quest through themed periods known as Wishworlds, creations conjured via the power of Mermaid Tears.

“Sure, the very fabric holding the very universe very together could come very undone, opening up portals into Wishworlds full of knights, cowboys, pirates, and prehistoric snails. But that’s nothing everyone’s favorite Sponge can’t handle – with the right cosmic costume,” the official blurb reads.

When Will SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Release?

While this is all well and good, THQ has yet to announce the official release date for the game. However, given the amount of footage the trailer revealed earlier today, it's likely the chapter will be arriving a lot sooner than we originally expected. Until the time does come, though, we'll just have to keep tabs on THQ and the guys over at Purple Lamp Studios.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can follow the updates for the game over on the official social handle here.
