The holidays are a few months away, but the gifts are already streaming in.

Sony has confirmed the release of a slimmer version of the PS5. The news hit the grapevines in August, but you know how leaks go; some are always further from the truth.

In the Tuesday blog post,  Techno-Maestro unveiled the console’s new look. The new model will include a detachable Blu-Ray disc drive and 1 T.B. of internal storage instead of the previous 825GB. The new design will feature a bulge on the side to accommodate the disc drive. This is good news for gamers who had to choose between the digital-only version of the PS5 and the standard console.

The slim version, also called the PS5 “Slim,” will have 30% less volume and 18% or 24% less weight, depending on your chosen model. Sony has also confirmed that this will be the overall look of the consoles moving forward. The previous models will be phased out after being sold out.

Essentially, the new model will replace the PS5 Digital Edition and the PS5. However, if you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition, you can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later, as it will also be sold separately for 79.99 USD (£119.99, €99.99).

Additionally, Sony verified through a blog post that “There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion having a glossy look, while the bottom remains in matte.”

The new model will also include a horizontal and vertical stand. The vertical stand will be sold separately for $29.99 (£29.99,  £24.99,  ¥;3,980).

Now, down to cost. The new PS5 Slim will be slightly pricier than its older counterpart. The retail price in the U.S. is $499.99 for the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and the PS5 Digital Edition. In Europe, it will retail at €449.99 for the Digital Edition / €549.99 with the drive, and in the U.K., you'll get it for £479.99 with the drive or £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition.

The new PS5 ‘slim' model will be available in the U.S. in November. You can purchase it from select local retailers or
