Saints Row Reboot: Where the Hell is Johnny Gat?

Volition and associates brought the upcoming Saints Row reboot to Gamescom last night, showcasing a brand new trailer in anticipation of its February 25th release date. And while the new take on the 3rd Street troupe looked pretty spectacular in a nutshell, there was definitely something missing from the show. Something that, as Volition more than likely expected, sparked fury amongst OG fans of the series.

“Where the hell is Johnny Gat?”, a cool million or two harmonized as the trailer rolled out and the new roster was introduced. “No Shaundi   not even Pierce for crying out loud?”

Of course, being a reboot, we sort of anticipated the shift in faces. And don't get me wrong, the hipster-like Saints don't look half bad, especially with their polished look and Fortnite-esque backdrop. But boy, talk about a major change in direction for the series. Now whether it's a good route to take or not is sort of another question — and one that can only really be answered on launch day. Until that time comes, however, we can only familiarize ourselves with the fresh royal purple representatives.

Still, it could be worse…

In light of the sad news, Volition has confirmed the return of all the old activities and classic Saints humour. And by that, they mean you'll still be able to swindle a claim after throwing yourself into the front of a speeding truck. Or perhaps mindlessly blow up half a district with a tank or fry a few dozen brains with a gun that only produces dubstep. Whatever the scenario, the thing to take away is that beneath the reboot idles all the old things fans will feel at home with. So, Johnny Gat or no Johnny Gat — Saints Row is still Saints Row. In one way or another, anyway.
