Resident Evil Village Leak Suggests “Ethan Must Die 2.0” Will Return

With Resident Evil Village set to release in a few weeks, now might be the time to shed some light on a rumor or two. Of course, as with any rumor that stems from the likes of Twitter or Reddit, everything must be taken with a grain of salt. That said, with how prominent a few leakers are on said platforms, we can't help but put all of our eggs in one or two baskets. And if they do happen to fall through on launch day then hey — at least they kept us entertained for a short while, right?

With all of this in mind, there is one major leak that has caught our attention as of late. AestheticGamer1, who also runs as Dusk Golem, has reported to Twitter with news of a secret mode for the upcoming Village chapter. Coined as “Ethan Must Die 2.0”, the potential DLC is believed to be a follow-up from the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard minigame. But in case you didn't get a chance to sink some hours into the ridiculously OTT side quest, then we can only describe it as being an absolute nightmare in video game form. But that's not to say we wouldn't enjoy warping into a second chapter.

What else has been said about the upcoming game?

Other than this difficulty spike that may or may not be true, AestheticGamer1 has also spread his insider knowledge on other areas of Resident Evil Village. One of them, although not exactly a mind-boggling statement, suggests that Village will be the longest chapter in the timeline to date. But considering the average Resident Evil entry is around four or five hours long — it wouldn't take a great deal to surpass the norm. Even still, at least we'd be getting more bang for our buck. That is if the leak proves to be true, of course.

On top of this, the leaker has also stated that Capcom is already working on the ninth instalment in the timeline. Yes — before the eighth has been released. Although, that's pretty normal in the gaming industry, to be honest. However, it's unlikely that we'll get any juicy details on that for a good couple of years. Until then, we'll have to settle with these few rumors that stem from Twitter. Here's hoping they'll ring true come May 7th.

You can follow the official updates for Resident Evil Village here. Or you can check in on the other rumors here. Failing that, you could always stick around here for a few more leaks? One thing is for sure: we've got plenty to share.

Resident Evil Village will release on May 7th on Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia, and PC.
