Development

Reel Fishing: Days of Summer

Developer and publisher Natsume is currently working on the upcoming Reel Fishing: Days of Summer. They’ve expressed excitement over continuing the franchise’s legacy with a new entry to the series. You’ve probably already played previous entries of Reel Fishing that ran over 25 years ago. The first entry, Reel Fishing, launched on the original PlayStation in 1996 in Japan and 1997 in North America. Gamers loved the game so much that it quickly became a hit release, garnering one million copies in sales.

With excellent initial success, Natsume has continued releasing consecutive games on multiple platforms, including Nintendo 3DS, Dreamcast, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch. They’ve strived to retain the original’s natural and fishing charm, which Hiro Maekawa, President & CEO of Natsume, attributes to a “photorealistic fishing experience with a strong focus on nature.” The same fishing style you’ve known over the years will likely charge forth into the upcoming Reel Fishing: Days of Summer.

Natsume Inc. is an experienced worldwide developer and publisher, often creating family-friendly games. Besides Reel Fishing, their other most-known franchise, Harvest Moon, has also become a niche hit on PlayStation before forging on to other platforms. “We are excited to continue the legacy of this great series with Reel Fishing: Days of Summer,” says Hiro Maekawa, one of PlayStation’s Greatest Hits collections and one of the console’s top-selling fishing games. As the 16th entry in the modern- era and a celebration of over 25 years of the fishing series, we hope to see a superior experience that immerses you in an authentic and surreal fishing trip.
