System Shock Remake release date

Nightdive Studios has confirmed a delay for the upcoming System Shock Remake, which the studio had originally set to launch in March. The studio announced the delay alongside a new release date on the official System Shock Twitter account.

In a statement, Nightdive Studios apologized for the delay, admitting that they hoped to release the game in March. The studio stated that the hopeful launch window was “just beyond our reach.” However, the developer has reassured fans that the game is essentially complete, but they want to release it in the best state possible.

“We had hoped to bring the game to market by the end of March, but that turned out to be just beyond our reach; we are after all merely humans (unlike Shodan!),” Nightdive said in a post on Steam.

System Shock Remake Release Date

Alongside the delay announcement, the studio revealed a new release date. The game will now launch on Tuesday, May 30, for all major PC platforms. The platforms include Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Console versions of the game are also in the works, though no release date has been confirmed as of yet.

“The wait is (almost) over. The PC edition of System Shock—the fully fledged remake of the groundbreaking original from 1994—will be released on May 30 this year,” Nightdive said in a post on Steam.

This highly anticipated remake of the 1994 original boasts new visuals, music, enemies, and an updated hacking system. Additionally, the game features a Dead Space-style dismemberment system. Kickstarter backers funded the System Shock remake in 2016, and since then, it has been delayed multiple times. Despite this, Nightdive Studios has continued to work hard on the project. The studio aims to ensure that the game lives up to the expectations of its dedicated fanbase.

System Shock will now release on May 30, 2023, for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
