PlayStation Studios Are Working on 25 New PS5 Games

PlayStation Studios are working to deliver 25 new games for the PlayStation 5, all of which are expected to release over the coming years. As part of an interview earlier this week, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst let it slip that the internal factions are brewing both new and existing IP's — all of which are set to arrive on the PS5.

Of course, while most games are likely to take a few years to flourish, it is likely that 2021 will see in a few threads from the bundle of 25. Although it's unclear as to what PlayStation will release from the spool this year, it is likely that many of the strands will stem from the likes of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon: Forbidden West. But apart from that — your guess is as good as mine. Either way, it's always nice to have an update — especially seeing as Sony has kept a lot under tight wraps ever since the PS5 launched last November.

What can we expect from PlayStation Studios this year?

What's next for PlayStation?

In a bid to compete with the Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation has been working night and day to try and secure new factions to help aid the domain. Though, after Microsoft secured Bethesda and inducted the likes of Skyrim and other triple-A titles from the gaming giant into its fold — the war for best service has become incredibly one-sided. That said, Sony is still very much in the game — and the promised 25 new titles will definitely work in their favour over the coming months.

Unfortunately, Sony will not be returning to E3 2021, and will therefore be resorting to other means to promote their works for 2021. But as it stands, neither Sony nor any of the PlayStation factions have cemented a potential date for an official showcase this year. In a nutshell, that means PlayStation 5 users will have to hang fire and wait for Sony to deliver the news over the coming weeks, months, or even years.

Whatever the case, it's a pleasure knowing that the minds behind PlayStation Studios are hard at work crafting the next slew of explosive adventures. We'll be keeping an eye out for any updates should they funnel through to us over the next few weeks. In the meantime, however, you can check in on Sony's newsfeed on the PlayStation Blog.
