Needless to say, 2022 was a big year for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Not only did the subscription service see a wave of new games, but it also saw the introduction of its new tier system. That includes PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers. With each tier differing in the number of games that are accessible in its catalog. The best part, however, is regardless of which tier you're in, there is a fine selection of titles to dive into. Some of which you simply cannot afford to miss out on while they are available to play for free. Though it was a difficult decision, we've narrowed down the best PlayStation Plus games of 2022 in this list. So, keep reading to find out which games dominated PS Plus this year.

8. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4)

The Uncharted series by Naughty Dog is a staple in the story-driven genre. That's why Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the epic conclusion to Nathan Drake's four-part series, is a must-play if you have any of the PS Plus subscriptions. A Thief's End is the series' first open-world game and it takes the treasure hunters' adventure to a whole new epic scale than its predecessors. If you have PS Premium, you can also get access to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and play all four games in the series, which will undoubtedly remain one of the best PlayStation Plus games for years to come.

7. Death Stranding (PS4/PS5)

Hideo Kojima, one of the greatest video game minds of our generation grants us the epic narrative Death Stranding. Though it's a bit slower-paced, and thusly can be an acquired taste, Death Strandings' narrative is full of strife, heartbreak, and emotion. You take the role of Sam, portrayed by actor Norman Reedus, and must make you're way across a barren and broken United States. Your mission is to gradually piece together its network while uncovering a world of mystery along the way. Those looking for one of the best and most gripping narratives on PlayStation Plus should not pass this game up.

6. Stray (PS4/PS5)

Believe it or not, Stray is actually an Indie game developed by BlueTwelve Studio. Its original concept of playing as a stray cat trapped amongst a world of robotic humans granted it the best Indie at the 2022 Video Game Awards. Now, whether you're more of a cat or dog person, Stray is one title with evoking storyline that's worth a try. Sadly, that's only the case for PS Plus Extra and Premium members. But, if that's you, Stray is one of the best PlayStation Plus games added to the subscription service this year, which we highly recommend trying.

5. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (PS4/PS5)

There have been numerous Star Wars games throughout the years. But, the most notable as of late is EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Released in 2019, Fallen Order follows the epic journey of Padawan, Cal Kestis as he travels the galaxy on an epic journey to master his Jedi abilities. It's essentially the character's origin story and it's packed with all the Star Wars sci-fi you could want. Even more reason to play this game now is that the sequel, Star Wars Jedi Survivor is set to release on March 17, 2023. Making it the perfect time to dive into one of the best PlayStation Plus games – available to all tiers.

4. Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4/PS5)

It's no secret that superhero games are on the rise ever since the release of Marvel's Spider-Man. That's because Insomniac Games perfected the experience of playing as the web-slinging hero in its first open-world adventure. There's just something about effortlessly swinging at massive heights from New York skyscrapers that players can't get enough of. Consequently one of the reasons why Marvel's Spider-Man remains one of the best PlayStation Plus games since it joined the subscription service.

Look no further than Ghost of Tsushima for the most cinematic experience on PS Plus. Simply put, there is no dull environment in this game, as each area is as beautiful and scenic as the last. It's one of those games that will inevitably leave you with a myriad of breathtaking screenshots on your hard drive. Plus, playing as a Japanese Samurai ensures a poetic combat experience that never gets old. So, travel the land and face off against Samurai emperors in Ghost of Tsushima.

2. God of War (PS4)

God of War Ragnarok was arguably the only game in 2022 that could compete for game of the year with the likeness of Elden Ring. And, even though it wasn't enough to get the job done, the God of War sequel still walked away with a number of awards. And many fans argue that the sequel is as good as, if not better than, the original. That's why as one of the best PlayStation Plus games, it would be a shame not to play God of War when you can get it for free with the subscription service. Plus we can't think of any reason why you wouldn't, especially since it's available at all tiers.

Naughty Dog never ceases to amaze us, and The Last of Us is no exception. This emotional and heartbreaking story follows Joel and Ellie as they attempt to cross a plague-infected America in search of a cure for the pandemic. And the remastered version takes the game to a whole new level of immersion that you may not have experienced before. Not to mention that the games being adapted into a TV series produced by HBO, which will premiere on January 15, 2023. And because the first season is based on the first game, there's even more reason to play one of PlayStation Plus's best.
