Seeing as we’re all ready to close the book on 2020, it’s only fair that the turn of a new story should entail some happier beginnings. Take the January Sales, for example; we can’t fault some of the quality deals Xbox and PlayStation have put out, that’s for sure. Even so, we’re still hungry for more, and can’t help but make room for a little extra serving. Thankfully for us — PS Plus has just dished up the desert.
PS Plus subscribers will be able to get their paws on another three free games from the 5th January 2021. Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall will be available on PS4 systems, and Maneater will be stepping up for PS5 owners. But, thanks to the joys of backwards compatibility, PS5 users will be able to pick up the PS4 games in their bundle too.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (PS4/PS5)
Diving back to clasp the reigns of survivalist Lara Croft, Shadow of the Tomb Raider returns as yet another gripping adventure with just as many renowned quirks from the franchise. Set shortly after the events of The Rise of the Tomb Raider, players are immersed into a whole new journey deep within the Peruvian jungle. With new maps to conquer and enemies to banish, Lara Croft steps up for one of her most demanding tales to date.
Throwing in a neat little combination of RPG elements and well-paced narrative, GreedFall steps in as a unique contender to the action role-playing genre. Based on a remote island crammed with invading settlers protected by an army of supernatural creatures, you, the player, are faced with returning peace to the island as you establish relationships with the surrounding island factions. By making choices and driving the story in any way you deem fit, GreedFall becomes a playground that never lacks replayability.
If being a goat didn’t satisfy your hunger for animal simulators, then perhaps taking control of a shark is more to your taste? Seems slightly crazy, for sure — and yet here we are. Maneater throws you quite literally into the deep end as you sink your teeth into whatever crosses your path; whether it be a petrified cod or an Olympic diver. Plus, with the ability to essentially upgrade your shark as you grow through various stages of life, Maneater turns up to be a fully-fleshed role-playing game that promises both fun and laughter.
