PlayStation 5 Update Will Remove Accolades Feature This Fall

Sony's PlayStation 5 is set to lose an underperforming feature at some point this fall. Specifically, the Accolades section.

With the PS5 closing in on its two-year anniversary, Sony will now be looking to make a few adjustments to help shape a better future for the console. This does, of course, involve removing a few features, if only to make way for new and improved innovations in later updates. Speaking of which, the PS5 will be losing an underutilized feature this fall. Specifically, the Accolades feature, which essentially gives players the chance praise one another through a choice-based ranking system.

Of course, PlayStation launched the Accolades section with the hopes that it would increase player activity and help to develop friendships along the way. However, clearly this wasn't meant to be, as the feature is practically non-existent as of 2022. Therefore, Sony will be removing the feature this fall and shifting focus over to other areas of the console.

Goodbye, Accolades…

“In fall of 2022, the Accolades feature on PlayStation 5 will no longer be supported,” the official statement reads. “The feature hasn't seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another.”

Unfortunately, it isn't clear which sections of the PS5 Sony will be looking at next. That said, we're expecting big things from the gaming giant as it looks to commemorate the console's second year on the market. So, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for what lies ahead. We'll be sure to give you the scoop should any fresh details come our way.

So, what's your take? Are you sad to see the Accolades tab go? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
