Play As Alfred In Third Shift’s Forever Ago

Updated on

Developed by the narrative-focused indie game studio, Third Shift, is working on its debut title, Forever Ago. Third Shift was founded by two best friends (Fabian Denter & Kai Brueckers) in 2019 in Krefeld, Germany. According to Fabian’s message on August 10, 2021, on Twitter there is some bad news about Forever Ago, which reads, “Bad news first: Game won't come out in 2021. Sorry. Good news: Everything's fine! We just need more time…” That same message was retweeted by Kai. Whether or not you look forward to it, the Microsoft Windows game, Forever Ago, is an upcoming project, which can actually be decent.

Forever Ago is a single-player road trip adventure about Alfred, embarking on a journey north. Alfred is in search of redemption, traveling to eye-catching places (like dusty barrens and serene forest lakes), where he has an instant camera with him. On his journey, he will meet interesting people, gaining new friends. Discover the stories, struggles, and beliefs of the various characters, brought to life by renown voice actors (like Cissy Jones from Firewatch and Life is Strange, Daniel Amerman from League of Legends, and Dave Pettitt from Valiant Hearts:The Great War and Frostpunk).

It is a story about broken dreams, loss, and regret. Until the broken dreams part is elaborated more, most of us may think Alfred is having prehistoric flashbacks on what he kept saying he will accomplish in life. Not too many people love to hear about pipe dreams, but it is never too late to recreate dreams.

Examine and interact with objects to get a comfortable understanding about your surroundings. Document your journey by taking pictures with your camera and solve puzzles. Pat a loyal critter joining you on your journey north. While there is still much more to learn about Forever Ago, that gives the developers more time to add any in-game features that may not feel like the game was forever ago. Also, there is a featured original soundtrack by Clark Aboud (Slay the Spire and Kind Words).
