Overwatch 2, the followup to the competitive first-person multiplayer shooter Overwatch, has announced a date for their closed PvP beta. Starting this April 26th, the beta will have a sizeable group of play-testers. Looking to get as much feedback as possible, test content, the new features of Overwatch 2 and game systems. It will include four new maps, the new hero Soujourn, a 5v5 gamemode, a new ping system all alongside well-known hero reworks. Plenty to look forward to for any Overwatch fan.

Testers will be chosen based on a variety of reasons, from hardware to the region you're playing in. Once selected, expect to be contacted via the email associated with your Blizzard.net account. You will also need to own the first Overwatch title to be able to play the beta. Haven't had the chance to sign up yet and want to? You can head on over to their website to sign up for a chance to participate and shape the Overwatch 2 experience.

No set amount was given for the number of testers who will receive an invite. Notably however if more testers are needed, more invites will be given out to ensure the game systems are thoroughly tested. This first PvP beta is solely for PC players, but that will change. In the future Blizzard is intending to bring console gamers in to help with testing. Following this, we can expect another phase of stress-testing. As Blizzard pushes the limits of the servers with far higher player counts.

So, what’s your take? Will you be applying to participate in the upcoming beta? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
