The world first saw Super Smash Bros. in 1999 when it was released for Nintendo 64. And since then, the game has magnified into one big event. The popular fighting game has mostly thrived because of its strong independent tournament scene.

But for a change, Nintendo has taken a huge step towards the official tournament circuit. Nintendo recently partnered up with Panda Global, an esports organization to go official with its tournaments. As fans await news on Ultimate's esports scene, Nintendo has announced the next series of Challenge Cup.

Fans had been debating between Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Both games have been fan favorites. However, Ultimate, the newest title has proved to be a massive hit and has taken a successful leap into the esports scene.

In fact, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate made an appearance at EVO 2019. In 2020, it was pulled off from EVO and has been absent since then. Nintendo's recent partnership with Panda Global sparked hope for the game's competitive scene. And now, Nintendo has announced the next Challenge Cup.

Nintendo is gearing up for its NintendoVS Series for this year. The online tournament will kick off on May 7, 2022, and will feature Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The online tournament is open to all players and they can participate for free on the day of the tournament. Players from North America, Canada, and Mexico can enter through Ultimate's online mode.

The winner will be rewarded the Cup along with a jacket, a Switch case, a backpack, and 10,000 My Nintendo Gold points. Other than this, players who end up in the top 4 will be rewarded 7,500 My Nintendo Gold points along with a Switch case. Meanwhile, the top 8 players will also get a Switch carrying case and 5,000 My Nintendo Gold points.

This online tournament gives a chance to players of all skill levels and pretty much anyone can take part in it. As of now, there are no updates about an esports tournament. Hopefully, Panda Global and Nintendo will soon plan a professional tournament.
