Next Battlefield is Now in Pre-Production

Updated on

It's safe to say Battlefield 2042 didn't live up to the hype and expectations it presented itself with. What was supposed to be the most comprehensive and action-packed Battlefield yet, with cutting-edge visuals played on a gigantic scale, fell short of all those expectations. It was instantly apparent that fans were disappointed and believed they had been cheated out of a full game.

Apparently, the uproar from the Battlefield community was heard by Dice as they told an XFire correspondent that, “valuable lessons” were learned. In light of this, the company also claims it will no longer be using Battlefield 2042 as the new foundation for the franchise. Hinting at the idea that a new game is already in development.

A developer from Dice, who left shortly after Battlefield 2042's launch reported that the next instalment would be an even deeper take on a “Hero Shooter”. Set to take place in the near modern-day or future setting. While Dice and EA are already set on preparing the next title, they aren't leaving 2042 unattended just yet.

What's to Come for Battlefield 2042

Despite a lack of community for Battlefied, due to many who jumped shipped after launch, Dice still has a dedicated team working on improving the title. The game should be seeing four new specialists, as well as four new battle-passes in the coming updates. Another addition to the game that will arrive in the summer is a new map named Exposure. However, the question still remains if the game will be up-to-par by the time of its release.

Hopefully, through the efforts of the small team at Dice who are dedicated to improving 2042, the game will eventually have met some user expectations by the time of its next release. Only time will tell as we wait for more updates and announcements from Dice.
