New Single-player Horror Game in the Aliens Franchise Announced

Game developer Survios has announced a new horror video game in the Alien franchise. Survios will develop the game in collaboration with 20th Century Games.

Players can expect a single-player horror game comparable to Alien: Isolation in the forthcoming Aliens offering. According to Survios, the game will feature an original storyline that takes place somewhere between the events of Alien and its sequel, Aliens. Players will take on the character of a “battle hardened veteran” who has a personal vendetta against the Xenomorphs.

For this project, the studio says it is leveraging its expertise in producing “realistic and authentic gaming experiences.” We can also expect the game to feature stunning visuals thanks to the Unreal Engine 5.

There are very few details on the new project, now referred to as “Aliens.” However, developers will provide more details at the Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe event on July 21 in San Diego.

The new game sounds promising for those who enjoyed Creative Assembly's 2014 single-player survival horror game Alien: Isolation, which was set in the same period as both Alien and Aliens.

The new title will launch on consoles, PC, and virtual reality platforms. The studio has worked on excellent VR games previously. As a result, it is not surprising that this latest installment will be available in VR. Survios is the company behind VR games like Creed: Rise to Glory, Raw Data, and Sprint Vector. Currently, the studio is working on Hyenas, an over-the-top loot-driven shooter.

The Alien franchise keeps growing by the day. Tindalos Interactive also recently announced another project in the franchise, New Aliens: Dark Descent.  The studio did not reveal a release window for the game.

What’s your take? What are your thoughts on the upcoming single-player horror game in the Aliens series? Do you look forward to playing the release of the game? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
